I'm in no hurry Nathan Andrews. Just came across the "Mastered in 4k" and wondered. Yes I realized lots of movies are down-sampled to 1080p from higher res masters. I've got a Pioneer Elite 141 plasma right now. Haven't had it professionally (ISF) calibrated yet. Terrific video quality. Happy with what's on bluray a/v quality wise. But what about Sony's "media puck/online service"? Using that deceive with a Sony 4k TV...would we be getting true 4k programming? Without...
I'd wait on 4k tech PERIOD. Heard that the current U HDTV's operate in 60Hz but the inputs at ONLY 30Hz. You need the TV's to be running at at least 60Hz for 4k movie playback. Also, these "optimized for 4k HDTV's..." movies...They are mastered using 4k then down-sampled to 1080p...then upsampled again back up to 4k when played on 4k U HDTV's. I'd wait for the new format blurays "U HD blurays" (mastered using 4k masters and presented in 4k). Not sure how useful Sony's...
Just did a little searching. Turns out YES they were mastered using 4k master copies. But hen down-sampled to 1080p. They are not blurays mastered using 4k masters presented in 4k (or Ultira HD). I guess we'll have to wait for the day when the studios do put out U HD Blurays. Or buy a Sony 4k TV and the Sony "4k Puck" that has several 4k Sony movies. If you can't wait..
Does any one know if these are 4k blurays taken from 4k masters? Or are they just 1080p copies upsampled to 4k to give us psuedo-4k? http://www.futureshop.ca/Search/SearchResults.aspx?path=ca77b9b4beca91fe414314b86bb581f8en20&filter=category%3aMovies+%26+Music%3bcategory%3aMovies%3bformat0enrchstring%3aOptimized+for+4K&lang=en-ca
That's the one!! I thought I saw some swastikas. Maybe it was only the "SS" (double lighting bolt). I wouldn't be surprised. This is a prime time show not something from HBO. Or similar channels we have to subscribe to. Shown only after midnight. In Toronto it's played twice from 7PM to 8 PM. When the whole family might be home (assuming you have a family). What I'm surprised at is how they manage to get away with some language. Innuendoes possibly not suitable for...
Thanks John. I guess I didn't think Charles R actually posted the link to the actual episode. I assumed he just posted the main Two And A Half Men webpage. Didn't even bother looking at the smaller "The Immortal Mr. Billy Joel". And thanks Charles R. I just took a quick look...saw Two & A Half Men" in large font...assumed "episode cast" only included the "main" cast members...sheen, cryer...etc. Any how they should make a poster of Erinn Hayes in the Nazi S&M outfit. ...
Been there done that. Doesn't say. Do you know the episode I'm talking about?? Some one must.
Does any one know the name of the "actress" who played the tattooed Fraulein in the episode where Alan pretends to be Charlie. Brings girl from bar home. Knew he was not Charlie. They are about to sleep together when she appears out of the bathroom in a S&M Nazi Fraulein with a riding crop. Seen her in other TV sitcoms. Don't recall her name. Name this actress.
I'll probably end up waiting for the bluray for Man Of Steel. Last time I saw a movie on opening night was for the LotR movies. Saw them at the midnight showing even. What was I thinking? Loved the movies though. Not going to do that for MOS. Will just buy the bluray just to see the movie. Hope it's not a flop.
Maybe Henry Cavill will prove me wrong. Look at all the different actors who played Batman. With Batman it was the story and directing that sold it. And the solid acting by the villans and leads. I'm referring to the Christopher Nolan Batman movies of course. Same thing happened with the Bond films IMHO. Daniel Craig I thought before I saw Casino Royale looked very UN-Bond. More a baddie. Than "Bond". But again, he made the last few bonds work. Aided by good direction...
