Personally I think 4k is going to be to expensive to take off. Supposedly you can't see a difference until you get to an 80" panel and they get real expensive at that size.
I live about 10 miles from Provo, so no google fiber.
Don't trust any hard drive from any manufacturer. They all fail, the key is backing up anything you don't want to loose.
2 If you are going to use WMC, buy Windows 8 Pro for $149. Then you will be able to add WMC for $9. If you buy Windows 8 standard, you cant use WMC, and it costs $99 to upgrade via the Windows 'store'. I did it this idiotic way because I was too impatient to go to order another copy. Ouch $160, just another reason to stick with win 7.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161417 You might consider going with the highest card you can get and still be passively cooled. A lot of video cards can get really loud, not ideal for watching tv and movies.
$80 with free shipping and low energy costs. You wont beat it on a cost basis.
Yeah, I'm thinking the celeron 847 boards are a cool idea for HTPC. I'm hoping the concept survives for Haswell equivalents. If you go this route make sure you get the one with the big heasink.http://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-Intel-Celeron-Motherboard-GA-C847N-D/dp/B00AUH3BRW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pdT1_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=44X7ASTT9ZYB&coliid=I24IFAU25NYDBO
Huh, same exact height. To be honest my A6 never breaks a sweat with how I use it, so it never really builds up heat. Pretty much all I do is DVR and video playback without madvr.
llano A6 100W, slightly undervolted.
Anyone use the this heatsink with the silverstone GD04 case. It looks like it should fit, just wondering what the results are. http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-GeminII-M4-RR-GMM4-16PK-R2/dp/B0080ATR2Y/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=44X7ASTT9ZYB&coliid=I3ONUK4MUCLA7Z
