I'm with afineman, skipping both the hx300 models. i'm nearing 3000 hrs of use with the hs201 and it's still very bright. you have to use hd source to appreciate this led pj.

boston- is the eco mode on the hx300 brighter than the hs201 eco? how about the normal mode on the hx300? i only run my hs201 in eco bec. it's quiet and the other modes are too loud.
