Jitter and the BDP-105: http://archimago.blogspot.com/2013/02/measurements-oppo-bdp-105.htmlIs jitter really a problem with most modern equipment? http://archimago.blogspot.com/
A competitor of ESS takes issue with the idea the Sabre DAC is actually 32-bit: http://www.msbtech.com/support/What_about_32_bit_DACs.php FWIW they may be right.
Actually it is not a preamplifier either but it may be used similarly to a preamp. It appears there are some who want the unit to function as an amp, preamp, AVR with room connection software, etc.
Foobar is another controller application which will play gapless (to players/renderers supporting that feature) but unfortuately the BDP-103 does not have the ability to play gapless files no matter which controller application you use.
Yeah we like Death Cab and I do care about specs. Carry on.
Happy New Year to you and your family and thanks for the tips--they are greatly appreciated. Currently listening to the Narrow Stairs album by Death Cab For Cutie. Highly recommended.
Windows 7 and after the grief I went through yesterday I am very pleased to finally be able to push audio to the player using my computers because I am not using a monitor in my dedicated audio room. Also thanks to bthrb4u for the information. I will play around with your suggestion tomorrow and see how that sounds. Right now, I'm enjoying listening to some great music in my dedicated audio room through the OPPO, whilst drinking a little wine with my lovely wife. We just...
Thanks for the info, I will investigate that but I have streaming profiles set up for the 105 to enable a max samplerate as 24/192. When I play files encoded at 16/44.1 Foobar shows that as the playback rate and when I play a file encoded at 24/96 Foobar shows 24/96 as the playback rate. Maybe I'm missing something, but things seem to be working fine without installing the other plugin.
I wanted to post a follow-up to my posts yesterday regarding the problems I was having using Foobar to push music to my OPPO. I spent some time today trying to figure out what the problem was. Everything appeared to be configured properly but I could not stream music. I speculated whether there was a problem with the UPnP plugin so I removed and reinstalled it. After reinstalling the plugin everything works perfectly. I am now able to stream lossless FLAC and 24/96 files...
I wish there was a better answer too, but the noise floor and ambient noise level in your audio room, the distortion and dynamic range of your preamp and amplifier or receiver, the frequency response of your speakers, the location of your listening position, speaker to wall placement and your audio room's size and shape and it's acoustical frequency response all come into play which is why I would not want to bet the farm that I could reliably identify a difference in an...
