1080p at 60fps is actually the ideal content for 1080p plasmas. There are console games like Rayman Origins that run at 1080p@60 as well as many PC gamers playing their games on their tv at those settings.
This is a current issue with getting a patched board from Panasonic. I had the same problem early last year. The first baord wasn't patched and the service tech was told by Panasonic that my size ST30 (46) couldn't be fixed. Lucky for me my tech believed me when I assured him it could. He contacted a friend of his who would know for sure and he confirmed what I had told him and let him know exactly what to look for to make sure the board was patched before even bothering...
Lesser picture quality? Plasma is still regarded as the picture quality king by most trusted reviewers. If you're seeing that much dither it's either A) Your settings or B) You're sitting too close. The motion blur on lcd make it the absolute worst choice for me as a gamer. My ST30 has low input lag with a great picture and clean motion.
I have a Panasonic 46St30 and "This one is great, no problems for me, runs smooth on all the games, get it!" The only problem is actually finding one as it's last years model.http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/panasonic-tx-p42st30b-p42st30-201105161138.htmCalibrated black level (ANSI checkerboard) - 0.028 cd/m21080 lines of motion resolutionInput lag - 16msExcellent scalingImage retention goes away quickly on my aged panelGreat TV.
