Use the Studio 520 center - that is not a wimpy center - take a closer look at thesize of the surrounds on the woofers. It was made to take some power.http://a248.e.akamai.net/pix.crutchfield.com/ImageHandler/fixedscale/900/900/products/2011/51/109/x109ST520CC-o_grilleoff.jpegFrom Bluray Forum on timbre matching the frontshttp://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.php?s=7b2abe8d024363afc97a0959be3ba0cc&p=4278584&postcount=3
I would take the Studio 5 seriesThe JBL bi-radial horn has No blaring offensive horn sound - and is smooth andrefined with good detail and definition - they have also been preferred over somemore expensive so-called high-end speakers. Also, I would not under-estimate the center channel >> there have been no realcomplaints about it - and people are using it with the Studio 590 towers. GreggTimbers knows what he is doing.Your call
No tweeter upgrade for the HTD speakers
Their is no real way to so-call brighten up, the earlier HTD model speakers. They were voiced a certain way - to not have the aggressive, slap your ears and face type sound. If you are looking for a more vivid and aggressive nature - you will need to buy another brand.
No one can guarantee which is best for you - however, I prefer to have a speakerwith No built-in subwoofer.

I for one, would not stick a tower speaker in a cabinet - and would not stick the826V in a cabinet. You tend to have somewhat open air shelving in your built-in cabinet, under theupper glass cabinets, that would be OK for front ported or sealed speakers. If youwant Focal, then look at the 806Vhttp://www.musicdirect.com/p-139678-focal-chorus-807v-bookshelf-speakers-pr.aspx
I prefer Focal over the PSB Image - however, PSB is still nice.
The bookshelf would work better in vertical placement. The regular Alexxa center channel is sold out - vertical bookshelf centers stilltend to work better, over horizontal mtm center speakers.
