They are likely to perform similarly. Personally I'd go with the Sunfire if it's similarly priced. No real reason for this other than that the Sunfire probably has better build quality. I say this as someone who has three Emotiva amps...

Yes that is the unanswered question. Personally I'm not going to risk it even though my 5508 had excellent sound and video quality.
