I have actually owned a Depth and a Rythmik FV15HP. They are both killer subs but the Rythmik easily handled the Martin Logan in just about every aspect. I still do have a soft spot for the Depth though. Congrats on your new sub!
I have owned both and really loved both. I really can't compare them side by side though since I had them in different rooms. I am by no means a "audiophile" and have zero equipment to test the two but I thought the Rythmik "felt" deeper than the SVS. If you purchased either, you would be totally happy unless you were one of the bass nutz that frequent these pages. Basically, flip a coin. Both are overkill for 99.98% of the population.
I am also testing a Earthquake...
Considering the SVS SB13 shoud be more comparable to the JL Fathom f113, I would choose the SVS SB13 over the JL. The new JL line does look very interesting though.
I haven't seen any definitive testing to support my statement though. I t would be hard to imagine JL making their "entry " level subs a direct competitor to their flagship models.
I just took the plunge into the DT arena. I am a long time Klipech Reference user but I had to move to a smaller room and my beloved RF-63's had to go. I ordered StudioMonitor 450's for my fronts, CLR2002 for my center and StudioMonitor 450's for the surrounds. I also snagged a couple of BP2's for the rear surround duties off of CL but I haven't hooked them up right now. I have to say that I am very impressed with the sound quality of my new speakers, different than my...
Sorry you are having all of those issues. I plugged my new 818 in and hooked up the HDMI and speaker cables and it is working like a champ. Pretty impressed so far but I don't have time to run the calibration. I will get to that tomorrow.
A few years ago I went out and purchased a Pioneer Elite SC-35 when they first came out. I was truly blown away by it's performance over my Pioneer VSX-1021-K. They were both rated roughly the same, power wise, but the I.C.E amps in the SC-35 were far superior in sound quality and output.
I later got the upgrade bug again and added a Emotiva XPA-5 into the mix to get a little more "oomph" out of my system. I talked myself into the idea that the Emotiva made a difference...
I replaced a Pioneer Elite SC-35 with a HK AVR3700. The sound on the HK was much cleaner but the Elite had more "oomph". I have never had a Marantz receiver but that will probably be my next purchase. I change receivers quite often. The HK is a fantastic unit though.
