100% fanless HTPC in a mini and decent-looking case: XBMC + MPC-HC + LAV filters + MadVR renderer 1080p: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1410670/mini-itx-100-fanless-htpc-mpc-hc-lav-madvr-1080p-ok-13w-power-under-win7 Built 18 months ago for less than 600$. Computer parts are a little bit more expensive in Europe, and I'm sure new/better/cheaper parts are now available, so it should be doable for less than 500$.
Hey ! About 18 months after the original post, I'd just like to share my updated opinion about my HTPC described in the first post. I use it about every day. I did not re-open it since I've built it 18 months ago. Not a single problem. It fits 100% of my needs : _ 0 decibel _ perfect HD video playing (no need more power for encoding, gaming,...) with XBMC, MPC-HC, LAV and MadVR. _ low power consumption Conclusion : still 100% happy with it, and convinced that I made...
Once again, sorry for the delay... I don't think this extension cable might help. But the problem is not a blocking problem.I had a doubt that electric cables directly in contact with a heat pipe might got a liitle bit hot and cause trouble, but this build is used almost everyday since almost 6 months now without any problem. I never had to open it again since I've built it.Still very very happy with this build!Handle perfect HD 23.976 FPS (MPC-HC + MadVR), with very low...
OP here ! Well, I double-checked my results using 2 different Kill-A-Watt.It should not be very difficult to find similar builds now as I've built this a few months ago.
Yes, this is in France, plugged on a 230V source indeed. But my very basic knowledge in energy would tell me that 13W is the same consumption on a 230V than on a 110V input. Might be wrong though.
First, sorry for the long delay !My first guess : undervolt APU and memory at their maximum. Perform full stability test after each undervoltage.
Hello, I just wanted to share some feelings about my new HTPC build. Objective: _ no noise : I really mean 0dB _ powerfull enough to run XBMC with MPC-HC external player with LAV filters + MadVR configured for maximum video quality _ HDMI Full HD Video and bitstream audio (including HD) _ minimum volume _ decent look Do not need: _ DVD / Blu-Ray player _ TV/SAT card _ HDD _ Remote management (I'm using PS3 blutooth remote and love it) Will run under Win7...
It sure looks nice, but: _ not available, and no real idea about the release date _ 325mmx438mmx60mm (L x W x H) : too deep (or large) _ based on H3 prices, I expect an insane price for the H5, maybe 300$ just for a case...
Or simply stop using both default video players, and use a good external video player like MPC-HC which have all the required features: subtitle on the fly, smooth rewind/forward, and very very good picture quality. This is very easy to configure with both WMC/MediaBrowser and XBMC ! 1 line to configure in MediaBrowser, and a few lines to add in a file for XBMC (very detailed procedure available in the Wiki).
Hey hey !!! [EDIT: system is built, check results a few posts later: here ! ] Following some user builds, I plan to replace my current HTPC (Sugo SG06B, ASROCK H67M-ITX, i3 2100, GTS 450, 4Go, Samuel 17 + Noctua, SSD Corsair F40 40Go). Objective: _ about 0dB _ powerfull enough to run XBMC with MPC-HC external player with LAV filters + MadVR _ minimum volume _ decent look Do not need: _ DVD / Blu-Ray player _ TV/SAT card _ HDD _ Remote management (I'm...
