This makes "Fox Widescreen" watchable. Focus problem in first half was too distracting. I wonder what excuses the ABC exec will make this time around. Hope ESPN-HD isn't this bad, or else my excitement about the 7/1 DirecTV announcement will disappear quickly...
Nice of ABC to issue a comment, but does anyone else think this sounds like he's passing the buck? Blaming ESPN? I wonder if there's some internal rivalry between ABC Sports and ESPN?
Also, he makes no mention of the most common criticism of the game- poor focusing. I suspect that after 20 years of broadcasting live sports, ESPN has figured out how to use the focus wheel...
Arrgh! This is frustrating. It seems like everytime they cut from a nice-looking close-up to a wide shot of the whole court, you get 2-3 seconds of blurriness before the picture clears.
ESPN-HD viewers, is this the quality you've seen in earlier productions?
I'm watching the Philly channel, and can confirm the earlier post that there's no 5.1, and the only audio is L/R.
I'm not sure about the new tower- perhaps its due to favorable atmospheric conditions- all of the Philly stations are coming in solid for me tonight. Even WCAU- I'm getting a signal strength of 65, which is highly unusual. If it is the new tower, all I can say is that it's about time!
