At CEDIA 2017, LG did not show any new consumer products. However, the company is not standing still when it comes to improving the picture quality of its OLED TV lineup. Although the news was first announced a week earlier at IFA 2017 (a show that stole a bit of CEDIA’s thunder), LG’s Tim Alessi—Sr. Director of Product Marketing at LG Electronics—discussed the addition of a Technicolor Expert Mode to all 2017 OLED models.
At the show, Alessi noted that LG has been working with Technicolor all year, keeping busy by installing OLED displays in some Technicolor’s Hollywood mastering suites as a consumer reference monitor.
“Technicolor works on the majority of Hollywood content and has been in business for over 100 years—they know what they are doing when it comes to color” said Alessi. “So, I’m happy to say that throughout the year our partnership has continued to progress. Throughout the year we’ve been installing LG OLED TVs in some of their mastering suites and they are actively using them as the consumer reference monitor as they grade actual Hollywood content.”
