Two new Ultra HD Blu-ray players joined the party at CES this year: the Philips BDP7502 (seen above) and BDP5502. Of course, both offer support for HDR10, and the BDP7502 will add Dolby Vision via firmware update later this year. Unlike last year’s BDP7501, the BDP7502 is a full-sized unit, while the BDP5502 is smaller.

The BDP7502 offers streaming from Netflix, Vudu, and YouTube, but the BDP5502 has no streaming apps. Also, the BDP7502 provides two HDMI outputs: one 2.0a for HDR video and the other 1.4a for sending audio only to legacy AVRs. In addition, it offers Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and USB connectivity.

The BDP5502 continues the small form factor from last year, but it offers no streaming apps.

Both should be available this spring for $300 (BDP7502) and $250 (BDP5502). As with most consumer electronics, these prices are less than 2016’s BDP7501, which lists for $350.
