Member Reviews: OPPO BDP-83 Blu-ray Player

I have been using this almost since it was introduced and still think it is a great player. Admittedly I don't use it as much anymore now that I have an HTPC but I do still need it sometimes and I'm glad it's there.

At the time I had bought my Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player, Blu-rays had been out for about three years and the technology of the players themselves, or should I say the HDMI cable in version 1.3 finally had the capability to deliver the full HD sound that was supposed to come with these players from day one. I had purchased the first Sony Blu-ray player, but returned it for a full refund after discovering it could not duplicate the HD sound quality with the HDMI 1.1 cable. Finally, when the HDMI group got their act together and came out with the 1.3 ver. I figured it was time to get a Blu-ray player, but which one? Paid a lot for this baby, but it was worth every penny.

Had this since it came out.. great BD player.. will eventually upgrade to a 105...... Oppo rocks.. use it for all of my BD's, SACD'S and DVD-audio's!!
