Pros: Cheap compared to a much smaller lcd tv, easy to take outside for some backyard viewing

Cons: Dark scenes are too dark even in a perfectly dark room, Fan is noisy in normal lamp mode

I have owned this Projector for 2 years and have managed to rack up almost 7000 hours on the original lamp in eco mode. While the dark scenes can be overly dark it don't impact viewing of any normal or bright scenes. I love watching a high bit rate blu-ray on this. Even 720p sources such as those downloaded from amazon look great on this. Outside of the dark scenes the picture is great and I really enjoy watching on a 92" screen and hope to go bigger some day.

Setup was easy I just used an online calculator then took some measurements and adjusted the shelf height on my utility shelf and now have a centered picture.

The user interface is easy to navigate and has pretty much every option that I could want except a sleep timer. It does have a shutdown after x minutes of display signal loss but that holds you hostage based on whatever device you are using. I did attempt to calibrate my projector but without a meter I just made it worse and ended up going back to defaults.

The remote is fully backlit and battery life is great. The signal bounces off the screen back to projector unlike some of the remotes for my other components including my harmony 659 universal remote.

Fan noise for my unit is way too loud in normal lamp mode but bearable in eco mode. I suspect this might be a problem for anyone expecting dead silent including having a room that meets THX specifications.

The one issue that bothers me is the screw holes for ceiling mounts. They are in a small triangular pattern that is smaller then the arms or even the base without the arms on most universal mounts forcing you to either buy the expensive optoma mount or make your own.

When I first got this unit it would sometimes lock up after powering it off and refuse to start up till i pulled the power. This issue happened about 6 times and I was considering rma but it stopped doing that after a few months of use.

Lastly If I were to do this all over again I would buy a model with multiple dlp or lcd versus having a color wheel because supposedly that part likes to break or even get warped over time. I have no problem replacing the lamp but I'm hoping the rest of this projector lasts more then a few years.
