Pros: Blacks, Color Accuracy, Physical Appearance, Controls

Cons: Smartapp UI

Physical Design - A solid pane of glass with chrome edging taunts you from the other end of the room. It's telling you that it's the best in class and it knows it. It's daring you to improve the rest of the viewing experience to match.

Features - Almost all the important streaming apps are here, points off for the lack of a screensaver on some of the audio apps.

Usability - The Marquis de Sade trained the men that designed the ridiculous user interface on this TV. Everything beautiful about the physical appearance is ruined by the multilevel mess the smartapps inhabit. Luckily the picture controls are in a standard menu and easy to use. Picture controls can also be accessed from a local computer using either ControlCal or Calman. The remote has a fairly standard layout, is just the right size, and has buttons that have a nice amount of give to them. The touchpad remote is a waste of time, arrow keys are more accurate for UI navigation. The UI is so painful to use we use a Roku for streaming most of the time.

Performance - Using my i1pro, the 10pt controls, and Calman 5 I was able to dial in this TV to within human tolerance. Whether I did a good job or not, it's nice to know that I'm viewing the source material the way is was intended to be viewed. We recently watched Criterion's release of The Devil's Backbone. Like all Criterion films, it's simply stunning on this TV. There were times that I lost myself in the rich color palate and excellent detail in one of my favorite bluray purchases this year.

Blacks - Almost a Kuro? Maybe. Blacks are excellent.

Value - At the time of purchase there was no better TV on the market. Every time I watch Reference BR discs or get the perfect HD sports closeup I'm reminded of that fact.

It's sad that Panasonic is no longer doing any R&D on plasma.
