Pros: Great 2D/3D Picture

Cons: Poor Product design: overheats causing premature failure of set and rapid reduction of picture quality - all for the vanity of being thin.

I have three plasma TVs: a Panasonic TH-42X60U, a Panasonic TC-P50G10, and a Samsung PN51D7000. The 42 and 51 have been professionally calibrated. For the 50, I use the THX setting, sort of. I use a single Logitech Hamony One remote control to control all three systems.
The Panasonic 42 is used in the bedroom hanging on a wall above the French doors that lead into the master bath. The superior dispersion characteristics of plasma TVs is necessary for good viewing from the bed. (Five-star)
The Panasonic 50 is used in the family entertainment room. Again, the superior dispersion characteristics of plasma TVs is necessary for good viewing from the the varying positions within the room. But, since this set is used for long periods of time, I have turned down the contrast and the brightness. No one has complained, and I've got the THX setting to return to during critical viewing times. (Five-star) But, so far that has not been necessary because....
The Samsung PN51D7000 is used in The Music Room that also doubles as the home theater. The picture in 2-D and 3-D are phenomenal because it is a plasma set. But, and this is a big but, this set like many Samsung's get very hot that reduces the life of this expensive unit (both of the Panasonic's have built-in fans to keep them cool). Since the viewing time in this room is limited and critical, I have left a professional settings on. To extend the life of this set and to extend the usefulness of the extensive calibration, I have installed eight small fans on the back top of this set (another possible solution is taking the back off with that option not being recommended because it exposes the electronics to whatever, although on second thought, I will probably do that because the back of my set set in my custom installation cannot be touched by anyone.) (Two star)
