What model is the PX80E comparable to? The PX80U 720P's?
PX80E = PX80U

Looks great, though! Might look better in the PX owners thread!

I helped carry it in, and the delivery guy was impressed that I knew already how to set it up--he sure didn't! (Nice guy though!)

CEVA delivery? ADC? Sorry, but can you tell me what this is? Is this an on-line dealer? I'm in NYC and I tried to purchase thru Amazon, but I get tax tacked on the order. So far for me, the EPP is still the best price. I'm just trying to get a better deal. I do have an AMEX card. Thanks for any info.

I had been researching the 85U for a computer monitor for a while now and the 4285u arrived a week and a half ago. I work from home so I am sitting in front of it 12-14 hours most days. I am sure some would say I am crazy. My friend was trying to talk me out of it saying LCD was the way to go so he hooked his laptop with HDMI to his Sharp 1080p and it looked crappy (very blocky in text and icons and the colors looked extremely odd) ..Man the 85U looks way betterI mean it blows it away.

I had it in the living room first watching HBOhd full screen and others for a week or so to break it in now I moved it over as my primary monitor. I am running this with multiple monitors with Vista and I have the 85U set as the primary but the windows Sidebar is moved to another monitor and while I usually do the auto hide on the taskbar it leaves like a 1 pixel high bar at the bottom so I have that on a secondary monitor as well. I have the screensaver set to 5min with something random to exercise the pixels (currently using ribbons). I am changing the background manually a couple of times a day. Also and when I am leaving even for just a little bit I turn it off just in case.

Now I have to say that this is my first Plasma and have never experienced IR before but I have noticed that if a window is in one spot for a few hours and I put a blank white image up I can see an extremely faint outline of the window but I just grab another window with some color on it and drag it over the IR and it is gone in a few swipes kind of like erasing a blackboard or shaking an etch-a-sketch. One other thing I notice and I have seen it mentioned elsewhere is certain areas of windows bleed (or discolor) horizontally not sure if this is the banding that people have referred to but it is barely noticeable and not a big deal to me. Also my face is 3ft away from the display I would have probably went smaller if I had the option (37 may be ideal) but 42in is ok I just have to move my eyes a bit more.
To sum it up this is the best computer monitor I have ever seen ..PERIOD. I played Counterstrike last night for like 6 hours and it was everything I hoped it would be.

I will be watching the IR/burn in closely for the foreseeable future and if anything happens or I get skittish I will probably get one of those 28in 1900X1200 LCD monitors but so far so good and I am a prime test subject for a heavy Plasma Computer monitor use. Don't get one of those computer monitors that are 35+in for the same price as a good 1080p plasma/LCD TV with lower resolution what a joke!! The line between computer monitors & TV is disappearing if it is not already gone.

Good to hear your experiences. I'm assuming you're sending it 1920x1080 and there's no overscan, correct?

The ATI utility for the card I am using (3850) has an underscan/overscan slider and I just flew through it to the point where it filled the dislaplay and never though about it again. What is a potential problem with it? Maybe I had not considered something..

I am using the hdmi @ 1920 X 1080

Well I'm now a member of the 50pz85u club. picked mine up from bb this past sat, and have to say my wife and I are fairly impressed with it. The colors look great, and deep blacks. Not as deep as the kuros, but not 1400 dollars differance. We spent hours at bb, cc, ultimate, costco etc. comparing plasma's, and lcd's. Thanks to all you for the great reviews. It sure helped in making a decision. The only other decision I had to make was to either go with the epp program, or purcase locally. I really didn't want to hassle with shipping, and worring if the tv would arrive in 1 piece, so I was able to get bb to within a 100 dollars of the epp program and that was worth it to me for peace of mind.
Now if I can only figure out how to download the breakin dvd. LOL

Great pics. I highly recommend posting them in the px80u owners thread because it would really help those who are fighting the 720p vs. 1080p mental battle.

Just set it to an analog station that has really bad reception and no logo. The static and ghosting images will be much more effective at breaking in the TV than the DVD, believe that.

When the tv is off and I look at the screen closely and at an angle I can see faint black lines that run vertically across the whole screen. Is this normal? I haven't had a chance to turn on the set, so I don't know if they can be seen when it is on. Thanks.

Bump. Has anyone else noticed this with their sets?

I looked hard at the 720p 5080, and admit its a great tv, but I just am not going to sweat Pioneer after buying the 85u.

That is what you have to do. Stick with your guns and keep the one you think is the best. Don't let others change your mind for you.

I just passed the 115 hour mark running my break in DVD plus some full screen blu-ray movies and zoomed HD with the settings all around 40 in standard mode. Quickly adjusted the settings to taste and Blu-Ray movies/games on the PS3 and HDTV all look fantastic. The blacks are great (I watch in almost complete darkness) and the colors are fantastic.

Even after 115 hours I do see some faint IR if I look really closely but it seems to last about 10 seconds tops. Not sure if it will get better with more hours on the set. I think I'll keep running the DVD over night until I hit 175-200 hours just for kicks.

So far after owning MANY HDTV's in the past few months I'm 100% satisfied. No uneven backlight, great motion handling, no dead/stuck pixels whatsoever. I recommend this set to anyone looking for a new HD set.

Ok good, i got my 42PZ85 at bb yesterday, i also took the 300 4yr deal wty. I thought i was a good idea since they gave me the geek squad delivery & setup free. it usally cost 150. Did they take 200 off the set and then apply the 12% cpn also?

I have the samething, it's in the glass. Under the right conditions you can see it in any make of glass.
Has no effect on the picture once turned on.

Well, I meant post em in the Kuro thread and claim they're from a 4280 or something. See what compliments it gets...

Oh, no problem. There should be a way to disable the "overscan correction". Then see if it fills 100% (you should be on "HD Size: 2" also). Does text look perfectly crisp like on a PC monitor now? If you have "clear type" on in Windows it will "smooth" out text, actually making it blury. Make sure that's off.

Let me know how it looks. Thanks.

I just purchased a PZ85U a couple days ago and I also am disappointed in the picture quality. There's no factory setting to make it look good. It doesn't have a crisp picture, even from blue-ray, the colors are overblown, and the facial tones are unnatural. I had it set to Custom (but I've tried them all):
Picture 81
Brightness 49
Color 43
Tint 0
Sharpness 25
Temp Normal
I wish I kept the Samsung FP-T5084 now, but I was tempted by the promise of an even better picture. I'm on DirecTv HD and off-air antenna, which brought locals in great. Now I think I have to return this TV, too. Any suggestions?

From Toms recommendations, Id say your bright, color and picture are all too high.

It looks like they dropped the prices of the 85U models by $200 according to Panasonic's website.
