Others have been reporting similar issues. I hope this helps us determine if it's real and if it's a concern.
Here are the results
This is the first time I've tried something this. I'm certainly no expert...just learning as I go. Because of this, the absolute values are probably not correct; but I hope the relative values will shed some light on the issues I see. These measurements were taken on a 70% gray screen using the GetGray DVD and the HCRF software with a SpyderTV sensor. I measured the same 9 positions on the screen that Tom did. The values for x, y, R%, G%, B%, and deltaE were taken directly from the software. The software also reports the L, a, and b values. Because the MM position showed the smallest deltaE, I used it as the reference point to compare with the other 8 positions. Using the equation(simply the distance between 2 points in the Lab color space) at http://www.colorspan.com/support/tools/deltae.asp
and the Lab values, I calculated the deltaE between each position and the MM position. The averages are given below each of the deltaE columns.
As I said before, the absolute values for the colors are probably not correct because my sensor hasn't been calibrated to any known readings and I might not have configured the software correctly. However, I do think the relative deltaE MM values show more nonuniformity than Tom's screen showed. Perhaps this is enough for me to return this unit?
Tom, I would greatly appreciate your opinion regarding these results. Please let me know if you think I did something wrong, and I can make the necessary changes and try it again. I have 2 weeks remaining in my return period. Hopefully, this will help me know for sure whether to return this one. Because there are others reporting a similar problem, I am starting to think that this is a problem on some of these displays. I guess there is no guarantee that the replacement will better, but at least some people out there seem to not have as much nonuniformity.
Thanks for the help!
