IR is an image that stays on the screen for a short time and then goes away, as to burn in that is permanent.....IR would be on your screen somewhere...if you cant see it, its not there

Probably around 250. I didn't use the DVD, I just made sure to watch a lot of full screen HD and I would occasionally change to zoom mode and H-Fill on 4:3 shows. No IR from the Xbox but I didn't hook it up till after 150 hrs.

If the images stayed on the TV for 23 minutes at low pic and low brightness . how will i know if there is a permanent burn or IR issue , to satisfy myself where will i look for burn issue or Ir is there a screen i can go to check

Relax the TV is OK just watch your normal shows in zoom mode. No need for break in pics or DVD. Time would be better spent if you have a DVD player attached. Run a movie in zoom change your picture setting rewind movie play again, in this way you will get familiar with the menus and the setting. Rewind, replay, reset have fun you get to know your equipment and fulfill the break in period

You can run the break in images while you sleep, which decreases your break in time dramatically. My tv stayed on the first 4 days I bought it, playing nothing but images.

Doesn't say much in the manual, and yes many user have noticed the same thing. I believe most user ignore it by setting it off. Looks like a bad implementation of an old Boon Box feature.

Ok smartass. You asked, and got an answer, guess you didnt like it. Instead of watching ZOOMED tv for 2 weeks, I broke the set in fast and then enjoyed it. Jerk.

that is true, I personally am not very good with woodworking however I do have some family members that are. I would be worried about weight ratios though.

Say having the mount up to high and not having the base area heavy enough to keep it from tipping over.

Are there any good threads about building your own stands and mounts for a 50" Plasma?

For my system I needed room for a center channel speaker along with 7 other components.

I also didn't use the doors for ventilation reasons.

the weight limits I have thought about and right now I don't have a receiver so i can't add that weight too it. I used too. anyway I do have a center channel and DVR box, wii, xbox, etc.... that is part of the reason I am looking towards wood stands. I just really like the wall mount style without the actuall mounting on the wall.

I like your humor but you lack good business practices and touchy as well.

Hey I'm basically running images 24/7 on my TV too for the first 4 days, I don't wanna know what my electric bill is gonna be....

Seriously??? Then why is power consumption an issue at all when people debate Plasma vs LCD?
So we got a new tv, and the buzzing is now at an acceptable level where it doesnt bother us. The picture looks great. However, I am pretty sure it is clipping shadow detail, but the black levels look great. Should I worry about tackling this problem after break in? What do you have to adjust to not crush blacks? I know there is only so much you can do without pro calibration or using the service menu. Any suggestions?

I'm with Elway here. The man responded to your query in good faith and you have the temerity to condescend to him. Then when he defends himself you criticize his business practices and sensitivity level. If you have a differing opinion why can't you just say so? Speeding up the break-in period is an advantage and the usage of more power is not significant IMO.

You are certainly welcome to share and discuss your opinions on this forum but please try to be a little more respectful of others who share theirs.

I overreacted a tad (should have not used jerk), but as you can tell, it kinda pissed me off. Dunno what he means by "business practice". It also could be thats his way of humor, thats fine, if he'd have used some kinda smiley I woulda known and thought it was quite funny.

No difference in watching 100 hours continuously or 100 hours over 2 weeks. My goal was to get it broken in fast so there would be no zooming and use the slides. I actually did not watch it much those first 4 days, only a couple of hours here and there.

Check the calibration thread for this tv, we have a TON of good info for you.

I'd guess it's cost savings over time.
If I were to run my 42" for 8 hours a day at an average of 10cents/Kw Hour, it would be around $12 for the month.
