I think I'm done!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tweaked the COLC settings and was able to pull the colors almost perfect. You have to use the Colormaster to get the colors perfect, service menu settings along don't get it right.

Try these settings and let me know what you think....i took some pics of Bourne Identity, 300, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory...i'll see if they came out okay and post them if they did!.

Agree here as well, I think I liked the previous settings a bit better, colors seemed bright and popped very well even in SD. Right when I changed the COLC I could see I was not going to like it, thanks for the settings though! I am sticking with similar to above along with Kryspy's settings and Joe's SM settings from before. I really like it.

fixed them...sorry, the settings in the parenthesis are the default settings...

only difference you may have is that I used my HD-A30..YMMV...but put these settings in and let it sink in for awhile...then make changes if necessary...you need to let your eyes adjust....if you have to make a couple changes to your taste, that is understandable...these settings are almost perfect on my probe! i tend to go with physical numbers! but they also look great...color is tweaked lower to 26 for regular cable, but you are dealing with SD/HD/digital/analog sources, so you get what you pay for!

(waiting patiently for Feb. '09!!!!)
Heres my changes:

Cable:
Color:56
Dynamic Contrast: High

on Blu-ray/HD-DVD Stuff
Dynamic Contrast: Off

Over The Air Antenna:
Dynamic Contrast: Low

That worked out for me restored the color and such.

without adjusting the image, it turns everyone pale.

Also make sure that on all your inputs the settings are the same because i noticed the input for my ps3 the colc was different
post #75 of 1150
Kryspy, I tried using your setup and close to 100% of the green have disappeared. Some reds, however, don't turn out as they're supposed to be. They turn out slightly purplish/pinkish like my signature below.

At least the TV is no longer puke inducing.

Thanks..I'll put the settings in and sit on them for a while. I did think that maybe I just needed to give my eyes time to adjust. So the 26 is for regular cable not HD? Just wanted to clarify, that maybe where I went wrong.

Kryspy

Kryspy I noticed that the COLC setting drastically changes the color, what are yours set currently? For some reason and I seem to be with you on this, I seem to like the COOL color setting where as most of Joe's settings are based on a medium setting which to me makes my whites pinkish and people's faces very red...anyone have any other ideas to match up well with the COOL color setting? BTW I have a 47HL167 with a January 08 build date Cheers

I have a 47HL167 as well. Joe's settings are extremely warm for my tastes. I went back to Kryspy's settings and they are alot better.

I tried Joe's settings with the temp set to cool, but it looked washed out. Medium was too warm.

the 26 is a compromise between HD and SD content over my Cablevision...used some SciFi SD, Deal or no Deal HD(highly saturated), and CSI Miami HD to get a good number to where I don't feel the need to change...but I have found that is subjective to your input...

that's weird...it should be the same for all inputs...since they are service menu settings and not user/input settings...but definitely check that out!

I'm just glad that these settings helped some people see the potential of the set..no more of this Green Push nonsense...from Day 1, I knew the set could be tweaked correctly, I was just waiting for my probe! I was NOT going to spend almost half of what I paid for the set to get a pro calibration.

Good viewing to all and enjoy a great set for a great price!

Pillowhead,

I am currently using JoeProcopio's newest set-up.

On my previous set-up my COLC setting was 76H. Currently I am using 60H with JoeProcopio's settings.

Thanks, as for the difference between all the settings, I'm happy that I actually have a choice now! And not being stuck with the green screen. After changing the settings back and forth and trying new things I can tell you that I appreciate all the work you guys have done. It must be a pain in the a$$ after a while.

Kryspy,

Are you also using the colormaster settings and everything else included? I'd like to know if you have made any adjustments? That way I could give those a shot and see the diffference between the two.

Yeah that would be great if you could post your settings for us "COOL" color guys
post #90 of 1150
I have the Toshiba 46RF350U set and have followed Joe's and Kryspys settings and am very happy with the picture of my set now, I believe I had green push? The background scenes/night scenes looked green/blue certain clothes, never people though. I never noticed at first, but after having my set for a few months now, blues and greens/turquoise all of a sudden stood out like a sore thumb, couldn't take my eyes off it. Not sure why, it seemed to show up all of a sudden. Was it green push, Anyone?

Either way, I was surprised when I could get in the service menu ( info from you guys)and do some adjusting, I am still playing with it a bit but your guys settings seem to make a huge difference with this set as well, I figured they must be similar??

Anyway thanks for all the effort you are doing more patience than I have!! Jim
