Master thread for Panasonic plasma not turning on - Page 62

Hi - I'm considering a DIY repair of a 20007 TH-50PX75U Panasonic plasma. Everything works except the two HDMI inputs, picture is fine on component, no problems powering up, etc. Anyone know which board would need to be replaced to replace the HDMI inputs? I see a ton of boards for sale on ebay - used, taken from sets with broken screens, etc, and they are pretty cheap. If it's just a case of unscrewing the back panel and switching out a board, I may feel brave enough to give it a whirl.

Thanks!

The A board on that set would cause no HDMI inputs. Just match part # and undo about 50 screws.

Excellent! Thanks. I have a screwdriver. Is there a "How to replace the A board on your Panasonic TH-50PX75U" video on YouTube? TBH, I wouldn't know which the A board is once I got the back off, and I'm sure there are tricks to that too.

PM me and I'll send service docs for this set detailing board locations/removal methods. I can't distribute them publicly here.

My problem was the 11 blinks started on my TC-P42S1 about a year ago. Purchased 2/10. I do have a previous post on this thread from that time. Someone suggested I plug directly into the wall as opposed to the power strip. That seemed to fix it. Recently I was on VK and unplugged my TV from the wall. Came back plugged it in and I get the 11 blinking lights but could still get to video and working with a few off ons. Last night i came home turned it on with a couple of on offs then it came on and turned off by itself after 15 mins or so. Finally got it to stay on. This morning after Tv being off all night I cannot get it too work. Just recurring 11 blinking lights . Our Sears closed, we have no TV men and I am mechanically challenged. Am I screwed?, contact Panny?
I have tried turning on the TV through the dvd player. Tried all the "tricks" I know.

Hello!

I have a Panasonic TH-42PZ80U

I received the 10 blink code a few years ago and have just started to try and fix it.

I have seen several success stories on this site, so I am hoping to find some assistance.

I just replaced the Tea1611 and capacitors.

I still have the 10 blinks.

I read in a previous post about checking the Voltage on T1 and T2, I do have voltage at those points.

I checked the voltage at T6 and T7, but NO voltage is present at those points.

I wanted to know if someone can tell me how to check the Tea1611's and the capacitors to ensure they are seated properly.

The parts I purchased were identical to the originals. Should I buy different capacitors?

Would anyone have the part number for the ones I should get?

Thanks!

Mike

Hi there!

I have a TH-42PZ70BA which is doing the 10 blink thing, although intermittently - sometimes it works fine. This uses an ETX2MM681MF power board which I haven't found much information about. It has MC201 and MC301 modules so my thoughts from reading this forum are to try the replacement capacitor on those modules. However, my modules have a different layout and use IC TEA1610T, rather than TEA1611T, so I'm not sure if I'm barking up the wrong tree and if I'd replace the right capacitor with the right value replacement. The only clues I've found are two ebay sellers offering a repair kit and repair service.

See:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PANASONIC-Power-Supply-Repair-Kit-10-5-and-2-blinks-ETX2MM681MF-ETX2MM681MFS-/140990638215

and..

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PANASONIC-TH42PZ70-ETX2MM681MF-10-FLASHES-REPAIR-SERVICE-UK-REPAIRERS-/150736850400?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item23189dcde0

The first link lists the kit contents as 2 x surface mount ICs,2 x multilayer ceramic capacitors,1 x photo-coupler.

I'd prefer to fix the TV myself and buy the components individually rather than pay for a kit shipped from the US (I'm in the UK). Does anybody have any experience with this one or any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi,

I have a TC-P42x that's 15 months old. Tonight while watching TV the screen went black, and the red status indicator light started flashing--I'm not 100% sure, but my friends counted groups of 11 or 12 flashes. Following the instructions in the user manual, we unplugged the TV and let it sit for a few minutes. Upon plugging it in and trying to turn it on, nothing happened--no lights came on, nothing.

We tried several more times, let it sit, and tried again 30 minutes later. The TV wouldn't come on for about 2 hours. Just now I was able to turn the TV on again, and it seems to be working fine.

The TV is outside the manufacturer's warranty, but is still inside the extended warranty provided by the credit card. I just have no knowledge about what could cause this to happen, so I'd appreciate any advice on whether this is probably a 1-time occurrence/not a big deal, or if it's indicative of a failed/failing part and is basically guaranteed to happen again. I'd like this TV to last a long time, so if it's probably broken, I'd want to try to get it fixed or replaced while it's still under warranty.

Thanks!

I have a TC-P65S1 that I have just started having issues with in the last couple days. Once and a while i'm getting a 6 blink error code and cannot turn on the TV. I am currently able to temporarily fix this by disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable. I've been able to locate about every Panasonic troubleshooting guide except the one for my TV. The closest one i can find is for the TC-P50S1. Would it be safe to use the 50" guide to troubleshoot my 65"? Has anyone else had this issue with a 65"? Thanks

2 weeks later and just checking this thread and others online. I have ads for tv repair but no takers. This is Kauai and we're challenged. I can't even get a TV new from Panny shipped here. It appears I will have to do this myself or settle for something from Walmart(no pannys here) or Costco. Where can I go to get a manual, online(i'm a visual) Youtube , whatever. Help
post #1843 of 1979
I'm not very good with the newer Panny's but there's a guy on the badcaps.net forum called tw2005 whose pretty good with them. Perhaps try heading over there for better tech support.

I had a 10 red flashing light on my 50"

I had the same problem and did this fix and so far so good. Not bad for a £1 fix.

Sorry it was this video I followed not that other one.

If you have not worked this out yet, SOS4n this is a PSU fault code but is generally the SC board TNPA5081 dead short on the Vsus line. The buffer boards can also be found to be shorted, it's 50/50 they are. You will have to check them before fitting a good SC board. test for short circuit on SC2 vsus to gnd.

They are repairable if you have the tools, soldering and multimeter skills and don't mind taking a chance .

Panasonic has a secret warranty to repair these models, due to faulty firmware that destroys the SC board and gives the 7 blinks. See here or here.

I have a 50PX60U which had some weird and confusing symptoms.

1-There was a vertical black bar on the top right corner running down halfway through the screen but it wasn't very wide so it didn't bother me.

2-It made a loud buzzing noise which I heard happens with plasmas but mine could be heard from far away, so I took off the back panel to try and figure out which component was making the buzzing, couldn't really figure out which one.

3-Put it back together, it was working fine, next morning I turned it on and the screen flashed some weird black and white pattern with horizontal lines, then shut off, turned it on again and it worked.

4-Finally I turn it on, it powers the fans up for a couple seconds then powers them down and starts blinking a red light, there is no number of blinks like other people have mentioned it's just blinks with about 3 second intervals in between and they go on forever.

I've tried disconnect the YSUS and turning it on and also the ZSUS but it does the same exact thing.

Any help would be appreciated since I'm a poor college kid and can't afford to have it serviced (this is what happens when you get a $200 plasma on craigslist haha)

The blinks in beween the 3 sec pause is a fault code which can help with fault finding.

Was it a gift from the original owner? If so, it might be worth seeing if he will take it back temporarily to get it repaired.

No the original owner isn't able to help
its changed hands a few times

I'm getting one blink then three seconds so I'm not able to figure out where to check! :( I feel like I should just trash the damn thing and get a new one but the picture on it was so damn good! So I'll do my best to try and fix it, can't really afford to have it serviced.

I have a Panasonic TC-50S14, manufactured May, 2009.

About a month ago, heard a loud pop and the picture went out.  Got the 10 blinks.  After a bit of research, I held the power button and tried again.  The TV tried to turn on, but failed again with another pop.  This time the LED blinked 7 times.

I tried one final time, held the button down and gave it a shot.  Back to 10 blinks.  Also, smelled something burning (see below).

I figured that the power board would be the easiest fix to try, so I have one on the way.

However, after closer inspection, I can tell the SC board is definitely bad.  Here is an image of it:

A couple of questions:

Do you think that replacing the SC board and P board would fix my issue, or is there something else I should be concerned with as well?

Any idea where to get an SC board?  The part number is TNPA4782.  I can't seem to find one on ebay or shopjimmy.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  I'm prepared to gamble a couple of hundred bucks to fix this, but that's about it.

I have a panasonic tc-p42x5 and during a thunderstorm I went to bathroom and came back and tv was off and won't turn on now or even blink any lights... Wondering what I can do
post #1857 of 1979
Reboot it by unplugging and re-plugging. I believe you have a brick now. It probably took a good power surge which takes out the power supply and frequently more boards. Usually not worth repairing (about 900 repair). I'm an insurance adjuster and I pay to replace these every day rather than try to repair. We only try to repair items worth more than $1,200 and that rarely works.

does anyone know a reputable person to fix my board?  I don't know if I want to try to fix this board myself..im afraid of ruining it
