It is very nice also the SQ is better than most of the compressed crap coming out recently. SQ not perfect but really good.

The resident Rock critic in the Sidetracks section of the local paper today had it rated 11th out of 12 of their albums (all the studio albums and "Rattle and Hum". Only "Pop" was considered worse). Gave it 1 1/2 stars.

All their 2000 and on albums, plus October and Rattle and Hum were rated in the bottom half. Top 3 were "Achtung Baby", "Joshua Tree" and "Boy".

Just a little of what they played on Letterman during the week. So little that I couldn't really make any kind of judgement myself. I don't think I even caught one song the whole way through.

I've been playing it for a few days. It has some very strong tracks (title track, "Magnificent," "Moment of Surrender," "White as Snow"), some very weak tracks ("Fez/Being Born," "Breathe") and some genuine head-scratchers ("Get on Your Boots," "Cedars of Lebanon"). In other words, a typical 21st century U2 record.

The British Beat - "Best of the 60's"
4-CD set of various artists. Tons of tunes you would have heard on the AM dial all those years ago.

Borrowed from the local library.

Where's my headband...

The Solo Acoustic volumes are both very strong, with a nice mix of his hits and deeper cuts. It's a great intro so some of his lesser-known but terrific work like "The Birds of St. Marks," "The Barricades Of Heaven" and "Sky Blue And Black." The recording quality is excellent on both records. There is some between-song banter with the audience, some of it funny and charming, and some of it political without being pedantic. It doesn't obscure or detract from the strength of the music.

If you're looking to explore more of his studio records and you only have Running On Empty, then my next suggestion would be Late For The Sky, which is think is his best studio work.
