Still listening to EVERYTHING...but the Dyns are reported to especially kill female vocals. Luckily, I happen to like female vocals quite a bit. And then, just for a hoot...

Some of those early Windham Hill albums are are my favorite stuff ever.

I'm especially partial to Alex DeGrassi and Liz Story's first couple of releases. Shadowfax's first album is really good, too (they all are, but that one's more "restrained").

It's too bad they've always categorized that stuff under "New Age", just because there's nothing better to put it under. A lot of people don't know what they're missing. There are some seriously good recordings there. Great SQ, great writing and great musicianship.

Probably the best sampler Windham Hill's ever put out was the first "Guitar Sampler" album. Even though it's all different artists, it's still a great album in it's own right.

I love a lot of the old ECM stuff, too. I still consider John Abercrombie's classic song, "Timeless", one of the best pieces ever recorded. Still gives me goosebumps to listen to it now, just like the first time I heard it in my later teens. Man, I just close my eyes and get completely lost in it. It's like an out of body experience. The Maharishi would be proud.

Agree regarding MH. For someone who was so respected amongst his fellow musicians and leading the way for many of todays talent with his unique style of play gets very little attention. I only imagine if he were still with us today.

I guess I agree with you on everything, LOL. JAs "Timeless" is a great album.

Now were talkin'. Btw, I have a really difficult time maintaining a consistent Cocteau Twins album rankings list. I go from rapture to indifference and then back again on several of their albums. I can't think of another artist for whom my feelings vacillate as much.

Once I move on to the dudes, I cannot wait to absolutely murder this trio with the new Dyns.

EDIT- man, do I hate these new, encroaching ads!

CD -

Go in to the UserCP under "Edit Option", then go to the first area called "Login & Privacy", and there will be an option to "Turn OFF in Post Ads".

Check "OFF", and you will be all set.

Joanna Newsom - Have one on Me.

Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon

GU 38 - Carl Cox

Vampire Weekend - Contra

Gil Scot-Heron - I'm New Here

Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Looking forward to new MGMT... i am a bit of a production junkie.. i like well produced albums.

Very impressed with production for vampire weekend and gorillaz. Joanna Newsom is good as well...

GU38 is not as well produced, maybe source mix related.

Johnny Cash - American VI: Ain't No Grave

I'll never tire of Cash's later work. His delivery sometimes brings chills down my spine.
