Well...it's no Funeral, but it has its moments. Half Life II and Suburban War is a fairly haunting back-to-back.

Indeed, Funeral is a beast all of its own.

Wonderful tune after wonderful tune just flow into each other. – And, ya just gotta love a Label that puts out a beautifully remastered “Best of CD” that’s 79m 22s long!

Alan Silvestri's score to The Delta Force

The movie is cheesy, but it contains Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin awesomeness. I sometimes regret listening to this score, because the main theme sticks in my mind for days.

It is a bit scratchy but I'm enjoying Kingston Trio #16 with Capitol Records Full Dimensional Stereo from 1963.

I've tried. Really, I've tried. I just find it all a bit tedious.

This one, on the other hand, has grown on me, much to my own surprise. In a nutshell.. musical collage of mostly found sounds & vocalizations/conversations. Somewhat akin to what DJ Shadow has done, but quirkier and less immediately inviting.

OK, just looked this up; it's called Merriweather Post Pavilion...and I'm like "why did this group name their album after the best concert venue of my youth". And it's because...unbeknownst to me...they're Baltimore boys like I am.

Now I have to listen to it.

Since I (and now Jaketh) set you up for low expectations, you'll probably love it.

It's supposedly their most accessible release, so I guess that would be a good starting point for you as well. I did catch them on Letterman when they were out promoting the album.. enjoyed them a little better in that context, but still not quite enough to keep the video recording.

Well...low expectations never hurt anything...lol. I put it on for a listen, and went about some work...and it caught my attention and made me stop what I was doing a few times; always a good sign. I read they had been compared to Barrett-era Pink Floyd...which is HIGH praise indeed in my book. I heard it a few times, but I'm not ready to anoint them psychedelic legends just yet.

I'm listening to Strawberry Jam now. Just so I'm clear, that's supposed to be the "good" one, right? I guess maybe this is supposed to be "groundbreaking" and "atonal" to some...but I'm a big-time Elephant 6 guy, so this doesn't exactly thrill me. I'd listen to Cherry Peel about 4,000 times before I'd pay much attention to this.

We'll see,

yup!

here's another one I'm still trying to 'get':

Dirty Projectors - Bitte Orca

These bands are (to me) the - stick with them multiple times through, in the right mindset, right weather, hunger level, etc before I really get it, then end up not being able to live without....so far, fine without!

Takes a lot of work sometimes to get these avant garde-ians to stick with me.

Well...I was listening to Strawberry Jam, and now I'm listening to this; what does that tell you? Kind of unfair; I talk about Syd...must listen to Syd! Animal Collective is interesting I guess...for a couple of guys from Towson, MD. Maybe I'd only listen to Cherry Peel a 1,000 times before them.
