Eminence Front. Best subtle guitar riff ever. Ahead of their time by decades. And THANK YOU all for the great listening ideas!

Amazing pub. I have a picture of me behind the bar with Sir John Young, both of us with pints in hand.

One of my regulars was one of those lads from the Kinks. Another was the drummer for rod Stewart. No name dropping...

You know, sometimes, if you think about it, life’s even stranger than you already believed.

A little while ago I was doing the usual several things at once including using my computer’s broadband dsl internet connection to research which implementation of multi 2TB HD media servers might stream best for my modest needs. (Blu-Ray recorders are so yesterday.)

... with multiple Windows open to here, there and anywhere, I’m very close to grokking all...

One of my windows opened onto this AVS “Two Channel Audio” forum’s “Which Album (CD or Vinyl) Are you listening to now” thread.
I was thinking that just a few of the many things that I’d done during the course of the previous 24 hours:
Listened to The Ramones, the Hives and The Killer Barbies (and more) at close to max volume on my car’s CD player while driving 80 MPH on the super highway.
Listened to a personal recorded compilation of extremely varied WorldBeat music, served up from an old desktop computer and played through four outdoor speakers while I was working around the property
Recorded a number of “Weeds” episodes to a DVD recorder’s harddrive, while, at the same time, listening to Peter Wispelwey’s interpretation of Bach’s Solo Cello Suites through my 5.1 home theater using Dolby PLIIx music surround mode.
And, most recently, listened to the ota radio broadcast of “T’s” “Is it the Sunday Night or the Monday Morning Blues” program. (Mondays - 12am to 2am Pacific Time. And there's also “T’s” “Every Shade of Blues" Saturdays 10pm to midnight)

OK, so at some point I heard “T” say that David "Honeyboy" Edwards had just finished his live set at a local (San Diego) club!

Here it is, a decade into the, more cutting edge than sci-fi, 21st century. and "Honeyboy" Edwards is playing San Diego! Wow. “T” played a couple of "Honeyboy’s" songs. One was a really, really, really old one while the other was much, much older than that. They were both terrific.

Ah, music! – Can’t get enough of it.

There are a lot of Dark Side of the Moon version out there. I know the best are the SACD and the MFSL Vinyl, does anyone know which version is better? SACD or the MFSL Vinyl?

Not necessarily; the best digital version is generally accepted to be the Japanese Black Harvest and Toshiba/EMI "Black Triangle" pressings; both, I believe, in the CP35 scan-code range. I can't speak for the Vinyl.

PLENTY of DSOTM talk on SHF.

I'm not trying to be rude or anything; and, I wouldn't expect everyone to recognize the discriminating greatness of all of my impeccable tastes either (). It's just that curiosity has just plain overpowered me. - Are you saying that you listened to that whole album?

This album recorded and mixed in a time frame between 1994 to 1998 in various studios and recording facilities, always using state of the art equipments and instruments, it was an ambitious project focused mainly in some extreme recording techniques as the numerous musicians who performed in this project were all sound engineers, and it was never planned to go public.
It is hard to label the music genre of this album, because is a mix of a lot of cultures and styles, but the core of it remains Rock.
So almost 17 years after the very first recording we decided to publish it worldwide, more details will emerge very soon, we wish you to enjoy it.
Johnnie DL.

Man, I love it when 2 songs just clobber you...back-to-back. For me, Damn, Sam (I Love A Woman That Rains) and Come Pick Me Up do just that.

Just dropped from PJH (although floating around on NPR for a while). Man...as a fan who'd be happy to spin 4-Track Demos, any time I needed a taste of Ms. Harvey...each record since Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea has been a real challenge. I keep expecting Rid Of Me to come roaring out of the speakers; but I guess she's let go of that time and sound, and I need to as well. However, this record seemed almost a laughable departure when I first heard it. How could this even be the same gal that gave us 50-Ft Queenie?

But if you give it a chance, it's haunting and engages you in its own way. I mean, I'll still take the gal that howled "how much more can you take from me"...but this is still good work.

Let England Shake is getting TONS of press, CD. Mostly glowing reviews (there are exceptions, as with anything). Early indications are that it could be her highest charting album ever, which is quite something considering the nature of the material and the radical change in direction with respect to both her vocal technique and musical orientation.

The first few leaked songs didn't do much for me, but hearing it in whole this past week, there are a few songs which are already emerging as possible all-time favorites. I suspect that ultimately, just like the last few albums, this album will remain hit or miss for me. But the moments of transcendence will still be there. And then the live versions will emerge (already are, actually), slaying the album versions, forcing me to reconsider even the songs I thought I didn't care for.
