Infocus 7200 won't power up

Thread Starter
Bought in 11/03. Went to turn on, nothing happened. On/off button is a very dim white, hear a spinning noise by the light. I unplugged from wall, waited 30 minutes, plugged back in and there was no dim light on power button for 10-15 minutes. Then dim light again with spinning sound. Tried turning breaker on/off like I read in another thread, no change. Took out lamp and reseated, no change. Does it sound like a power supply. I read on another thread about www.justrepairs.com. Anyone have any experience with them.

I'm thinking about upgrading to a 1080p. I'm interested in the new Infocus IN83 since it has Darkchip 4. Don't want to get rid of this projector because it would work great in the pool, pinpong, PS3, Xbox room where the teenagers could hang out instead instead of our HT.

Thanks a lot.

Yes it is the power supply issue common with this and the SP5700 faint dim green light that flikers that wont respond to any imputs.. I bought a DOA SP5700 to tinker with for fun, if you hold on to this PJ maybe a month or two we'll have a fix. I took my SP5700 apart its very easy like computers(TX10 screwdriver), you just unplugging fans and other items, the image motherboard with the DCDi and Pixelwork chips comes right off easy as pie then you can see the Powerboard which also pops right out. I noticed a cracked capacitor on it and I'm trying to locate a replacement to see if thats it or not, I'm doing it at my mossy along time so I don't get frustrated and give up that along with the fact that I don't care or have nothing to loose make me want to see what I can find on it. It's not uncommon to find a place to repair these for $100-$150 locally, and to me that sounds like an hour or so of labor and a $2 capacitors but I don't know a lot so we'll see. But if we do find the culprit there will be a lot of people who will pull them out of the closet and fix them because getting inside and back together is simple. Even If I ship mine off for repairs and pay $200 I'd for sure strip it back down when I go it and compare it to my before pic to see what was done and then post here. Its such a stupid thing when something like this kills a PJ an otherwise fine PJ.

btw: the capacitor number best I could read was B81122 C1472 M000(M250* maybe M250V or M2501..) 4.7NF at lest that was 3 of the 4 numbers on the top it also had 40/100/2** something on the side, tonight I think I'll just pull it out all together to read it. Its blue and rectangular and about .5 inch by .25 inch. After the M in the above number is 250* and another number I can't read. There are actually 2 identical ones side by side, one had cracked and exposed the aluminum or foil inside of the capacitor.

rrhomes: Did you ever find a solution to this? My SP7200 just crapped out and I'm looking for options.

No and I tried really hard, about the only thing is to send it in and get it fixed for about $250 round trip. I have 3 bulbs and a dead SP5700 I've been meaning to Ebay them for a while but just haven't I now have a Mits HC3000U.

I'm going to make some calls tomorrow to get this thing fixed up. If that goes well, I'll be in the market for a new bulb as well. Does that SP5700 work in the SP7200? Have a brand new one you'd part with?

If so, PM me and we can discuss pricing/etc.
