I guess since I paid less then 600 for the set (Westinghouse TX-47LCD), i minus well spring for the BB 4-year service plan. I have Friday as the last day I can add it, but I have a question to anyone, regarding Best Buy's policy, If i bought the TV for $600, and 4 years later, something went wrong with the TV, would a replacement be of value of the original retail price (in this case $1299.99 or $600.00)? I ask this because originally, last week the TV was listed as 1299.00 but I used the HDAdvantage to knock it down to a little under $600.00 and as I was leaving, I asked that same question and got two different answers.

thanks

And is Best Buy's Product plan even worth the money (extra 200) compared to other 2nd hand companies?

I am now fighting BB over their ESP. It is junk. Beware of dumb kids who don't know what they are talking about. ESP dosn't cover anything that the man. warranty dosn't already cover. Save your money

Two conflicting reports lol, but by warranty doesnt cover, what if something goes wrong in year 3? obviously the manufactuer warranty would not be in effect..

yes BBY service is covering more than man. warranty. power surge, normal wear n tear, speaker, remote control, no lemon. basically anything except for accidental damage. BBY warranties, from my POV are cheaper and cover MORE than extended warranties from random online sites and retail stores like sears and CC. I have had FANTASTIC experiences from bby service/ replacement plans, anyone who says otherwise is confused on what they cover.

BBY service plans are definitely the way to go, especially for TVs. As stated before, they cover heat, dust, humidity, normal wear and tear, and power surges if your gear gets fried. With BBY PSP, you don't have to bring your TV into the store if it's over 25", so a tech will come to you. Plus you don't have to pay for shipping which can sometimes alone be the cost of the service plan. Mann. warranties don't cover shipping usually and you have to take the TV to someone else too. They take longer to process also. A lot of manufacturers don't cover dead pixels unless it's a big chunk of 25 and BBY covers anything. Just don't knock the TV over (accidental damage) or spill a bucket of water on it and you should be fine for coverage. Just a little tip for everyone (I work at BBY in HT), if your going into BBY for service, don't cop a damn attitude at the customer service reps/managers and I can almost guarantee they will be willing to help and possibly even bend over backwards for you! Lastly, if the TV breaks say in year 3, BBY will try to replace it with the same thing or something comparable if the former TV is discontinued. If you do not want something comparable, you may request a gift card for the amount you paid at the original purchase date. The amount will not be for the full price of the TV if you got HD Advantage, only for the price you paid for it. BBY would be giving you even more free money if they did it for the actual retail price of that time instead of what you paid (price of the TV on the receipt). PM me if you have more questions about it.

*I would def recommend getting it on ay of the entry level TV brands (Westinghouse, Insiginia, Dynex) as they seem to have more problems than other high end TVs. The quality is very much you get what you pay for, so the Service Plan should be a must!

*I have used many a BBY service plans on my products, even prior to working their, which were outstanding!
