Anyone using optical lens shift with an electric screen for masking?

I tried asking a similar question in another thread but did not get that much response. So I'll pose it differently in this thread. (Mods if you feel this is a duplicate please delete the old thread, thanks.)

Is anyone using the optical lens shift on their projector to shift a 2.35:1 movie to the top of the screen and then rolling the screen up so that the bottom of the image is even with the bottom of the screen? This seems to be a way to mask 2.35:1 content while having the ability to put the screen back to other aspect ratios as needed such as 1.85:1 or 1.78:1. If you are doing this which screen and PJ are you using. One concern about an electric screen is waviness, any recommendations on a quality but affordable screen would be great-especially one that does not get wavy (if this is even possible).

One thing that has always bugged me about my HD70/fixed DIY screen combo are the bars above and below content other than 1.78:1 (even 1.85:1 puts up a thin bar). I spent many hours trying to devise a masking system and never quite got it.

One time I used the digital image shift on my HD70 to move the image to the bottom of the screen figuring I would just mask the top. Unfortunately there was not enough shift available to do this. Now that I have upgraded to 1080p with power focus and lens shift I really want to accomplish this.

All ideas and experiences are welcome.

Thanks!

Laserfan-no offense intended! My apologies for not reading the old thread first! Thanks for your input, I am not anywhere near the heel that this seemed to indicate, sorry again!
