Please help me decide......A3 or A30

I have a 50" Panny TH50P700U which is a 1080P plasma. I have a Pioneer Elite VSX-91TXH receiver.

Right now I have a Pioneer DV-400K which is supposedly a 1080P upconvert player. I want to replace it with either A3 or A30. I could buy either from local Circuit City.

Here are my questions:
1. Will either one of these upconvert better than my existing Pioneer?
2. A3 is 1080i and A30 is 1080p. Will the A30 be anywhere noticably better in my case? I am not sure if my TV upconvert from 1080i to 1080p.

If there is no difference then I will get the A3 since it's $90 and the A30 is $130. But I don't mind spending the $130 either if the 1080p makes a difference.

FYI. My current Pioneer upconverts connect to my Pioneer Elite via HDMI and the receiver then HDMI into the TV.

Thanks for any advise that may help me decide. I want one this weekend to play around with.

From what I have read, the 1080I output on both is identical. The 1080P on the A30 is supposed to be a "little rough" but the A35 is supposed to be excellent. I have a 1080I display so my decision was a "no brainer".

Like I said, this is from the forums and reviews/tests that I have read that came to this conclusion.

mike-
How is it possible that the A30 is a "little rough" for 1080p while the A35 isn't? Think about it..

edit- for the OP...if you have a 1080p tv then I would get the A30. I have one and feel that it's nearly the equal of my XA2 for all things except cd audio...but it isn't bad.

I have both the A30 and A35 and I don't see any noticeable difference in PQ between the two. The A35 gives you the multi-channel audio outs and the blue HD-DVD logo up front. Other than that, they are similar as far as HDMI output is concerned. They BOTH do 1080p/24. The A30 and A35 ( as far as Toshiba is concerned ) are your only choices to get the most out of that TV.

Amazon had the A35 for $190 last week but they are back up to $240 now.

Thank you all for your comments. I researched some more on this forum and also concluded that the A30 for me was the way to go so I got one from Amazon for $130 from Vanns.

Be a vulture. I went into BB abd asked about an A35 fro $99. They said, "go across the street to Magnolia. They have A35's, we only have A30's. So I went and asked the same question. "open box?" OK "no manual? no remote? 10 bucks more for a 2 year replacement warranty?" ok, ok, ok... out the door for $117. Be a vulture. They're giving these things away.
