RGB Full for Sony non-XBR4??

Thread Starter
So I have a simple question: I got a Sony 40v3000 which I believe uses RGB instead of YCbCr of the XBR4. (I have no idea??) What should I set my PS3 to output to? YCbCr or RGB or Auto? And RGB Full or Limited?

Please note I do not have a XBR4 set but a 40v3000; I've read thru parts of the XBR4 thread, I'm just wondering that would be best given my set. Thanks.

For my KDS-60A3000, I use YCbCr and turn Superwhite on.

RGB Full crushed the blacks, removing all shadow detail, and darkened the image severely.

Really, though, the only way to know for sure is to use a test pattern.

From reading up on this a little, YCbCr is essentially the the color space format that is used on Blu-Ray. And most TVs that follow the HDMI spec SHOULD accept YCbCr. TVs that use DVI may require RGB. So if your TV accepts YCbCr, and it uses it correctly, that is what you should use.

YCbCr is also 10 bits or 12 bits per channel, whereas RGB is only 8 bits per channels Though I'm not certain that this actually matters on the PS3.

It turns out, however, that games output in RGB. So that adds some confusion to the equation.
