Will Stewart do this?

I purchased a 110" micro-perf Stewart Film Screen (minus the frame) from a fellow AVS'r many years ago. It is time to get moving on the theater again and thus a question.

If provided the product ID and Serial Number will Stewart build a new frame for the exact material? If they do, what are the odds that the snaps line up right?

Anyone have a guess on pricing, if they will do this?

My other option is DIY oak or some other hard wood frame with felt or similar wraping it.

Anyone with some experiance that can share?

Thanks!

Yes they should and yes the snaps would work. You do need the serial number obviously.

Ballpark cost would be $1000+/-.

Thanks Jason... I have sent them an e-mail...

I am hopeful that the the - is more accurate than the +

Usually the frame is about 1/2 the cost and the fabric is the other 1/2 (assuming non perfed...perfed the fabric is a larger percentage). That yields around $1000 or so, but it really depends on the frame, size, etc...

The one stewart frame that I owned had the ability to move the snaps (they are on a tracking and can be moved and locked in place)....simple yet very smart feature. So the snaps would line up perfectly.

Thanks Ron! It is a Microperf screen with the gain I need for my CRT. I have a budget but want this done right and if the "right" frame can be had then I am all about it.

Why don't you send them the screen material so they can make sure of the fit. They can also examine the screen material for flaws or problems. Have them check the material before building the frame in case there is a problem with the screen material.
