Need some info on the Onkyo 605

I'm looking at buying this receiver to begin my home theater setup. I'll probably buy two R50's and a CSi3 for the center and hold off on any speakers until I can afford more.

Buut.. my question is in regards to the receiver. I currently have an Xbox360 w/ HD-DVD addon(hdmi), SD DVD player(component) and Cable box(hdmi). Right now all devices are input to the TV via component. My current TV does not have HDMI inputs but in the future I plan on getting one w/ HDMI as money/wife allows. If I hook these devices up to the receiver via HDMI and then from the receiver to the TV w/ component will I notice any ill effects or will everything appear as it does now? I'm really looking forward to consolidating some of these cables by using HDMI from the devices to the receiver but wasn't sure if that was the best idea.

I'm a noob and appreciate any advice you can provide. I've searched for similar topics and have not quite found an exact answer.

I don't think you will be able to find a receiver that will let you go from hdmi to component.

You will need to stick with component connections until you get a tv with hdmi.

Good call, in all honesty now that I read your response and I sit back and think about my original question it doesn't seem possible to do what I was thinking - I just didn't think it through thoroughly I suppose.

I think I'll still go with the 605 as it'll be ready to go later when I get a new TV in a year or so.

Thanks again.
