I was under the impression that both the 550 and 530 have the semi-matte/semi glass (your choice in wording (Is the glass half full/half empty type of thing, lol)).

I can't comment on the stand not being a swivel, and I know the 530 does not have the "WiseLink" feature.

Also, the 530 DOES have side mounted speakers (so Ideally better sound).

Aside from that, I think these TV's are identical.

There is a separate owners thread for the 530 with some comments on PQ and such (They all seem to be positive so far )

Alright Amazon says it's a go. They'll let me send back the replacement for the uhhh...replacement's replacement lol. I feel like such a bad person doing that to them.

And my girlfriend will just have to get over it. I'd gotten used to my HP-S4253 and then I downgraded 2" to get the 550. It always felt kind of wrong, so I'll be going UP 4" instead. Rock!

Don't feel bad for amazon, you just upgraded to a more expensive unit and they gave you the ok

The only hitch is that Amazon is out of stock right now. That thing must be selling like hotcakes.

I'm totally fine with keeping my 40" until the 46" comes in. I just wonder how long it takes them to restock??

did you ask them when they expect to get some in stock?
No I didn't. I'll ask them tomorrow when I place the order and let you know.

Man I'm really excited all over again!

The 530 is over 300 more than the 550 (at big river). This really has me confused, and skiddish. What gives here? Both the 4061F and the 40A530 are considerably higher that the 40A550 - why would that be? Makes me wonder what do I NOT know that I NEED to know. Any ideas?

Well I stated that as well, and directly compared the 85U to the 550, and I will also say to me, a decent Plasma is equizalent to a 6-8 ms LCD in response time.

Uh oh. Now I just talked to someone else at Amazon and he said that I would be responsible to pay return shipping if I'm exchanging an order.

I've now gotten two different answers from two different people. Does anybody have experience EXCHANGING a product with Amazon. I know how they handled my replacement as I had a dead pixel, but I need someone to tell me how exchanges for different TVs works.
Hi, I'm trying to decide between the W3000, A530 and A550, anyone noticed any motion blur whatsoever on the A550? I'm a big gamer so that's my biggest fear.
Just tell them it has some defect that is intermittent.

Well for anyone that is interested, I have cleared things up. The reason that one person told me I would be charged fees was if the TV was NOT defective that I receive tomorrow.

To avoid this problem, I am to refuse the shipment tomorrow when it arrives and have it sent back to Amazon. I am also to have CEVA take the defective 40" with them when they leave. That way things will be treated as a refund and I will be charged nothing.

But if you ever order something from Amazon and just want to do an outright exchange for a different size, good luck, because you'll incur those 15% restocking fees. Ouch.

Congrats on getting it straightened out so you can get the 46. How are going to explain to your girlfriend, and live without a tv if they don't get any in stock for say a month

Well I finally took the plunge and bought this tv (46in version). It's my first hdtv (college grad) but I've been reading this forum for awhile and I think this is the right tv for me.

At first it'll just be xbox (xbmc) and xbox 360 via component but I plan on also building a desktop so for media I'll retire xbmc and go dvi to hdmi from my desktop.

Thanks to all that provide calibration , audio most of all since I'm renting and I'm not going 5.1 till I own a place.

LOL, as I said above the 550 is closer to matte, so semi-matte seems appropriate, me thinks you meant "gloss" for "half-empty" .

Wow, I'm lucky, just ordered 46 model a few hours ago when it was still in stock. I have to pay WA taxt which sucks but I got a goldbox discount which makes it worth it. This will be a replacement for my Sony XBR CRT from 1994. I was hoping that monster is going to die so I can feel good replacing it but it doesn't look like it is going to budge - great TV. Now I need to figure out how to get the DishNetwork HD programming at a good price before the TV arrives.

I thought cripsy was going to post some calibration results from the professional calibration over in the calibration thread?
Wow, I just checked big river for their price on the 52A550. My next call was to ABT where I got a nice price reduction! Thank goodness for 30 day price matches!

After 2 years of looking I finally pulled the trigger on the 550. With the higher contrast ratio and response time, I didn't see the need to spend the extra cash for the 650. I cannot wait until mine is delivered this week. Has anyone wall mounted this set?

I posted this earlier for another person that had the same question. I have the Sanus - VMPL3B tilt mount for my LN52A550. Works great. Congrats on the new set!

ok the 530 has the same screen as the 550, pics just went up. Actually the 530 doesnt even look even look semi but it probably is the same finish.

I had the horizontal lines a few ppl were talking about, and it seems to really be noticeably with the gray screens. and like someone else said, i had it on 1080p, even tho it initially detected at 1080i, but when my hdmi cable gets here i'm going with that. i've also noticed some vertical lines during regular SD tv, but i only saw it during in a lime green background, and not over the entire screen. don't know if it's the set or the source. i'm very surprised at how good my SD looks with rca and the DNR turned to high. i had intended to cancel my cable before i got the tv, but now i'm def keeping it.

* has anyone noticed a buzzing in one of the speakers? sometimes when i'm watching SD cable, my right speaker will buzz like a static sort of sound, if i change channels it goes away, and the time it takes to come back is random. Could this be the cable tv, or a set problem? thanks

Why don't you donate that heavy Sony CRT if you don't need it anymore.

I've already talked to her about it and I played the card that I'm "just not happy downsizing" lol.

Living without a set is not a problem. I still hadn't got rid of the 42" Plasma so it'll be moving back in for a few weeks. No biggy.

I had a 52LN550 delivered last week...this is my first HDTV. I've been watching a lot of hockey on Versus HD...and I've been experiencing a random flicker or flash on the screen...it happens quite a bit and it's kind of annoying. It's been happening with every game I've watched except for one...that I can remember.

It's only been occurring on Versus Hockey during on-ice action. Does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Deinterlacing? I assume it's the source, but I'm not sure. Has anyone else been watching hockey and noticed the same thing?

It happens with both component and DVI-HDMI cables which are from Monoprice. Also, I have a Comcast DTC6412 HD DVR box (mfg. 2005).

I must of been one of the orders that sold them out... sorry about that.

How long does it take CEVA to update their shipping tracking?

Their site is kind of slow so if you have a tracking number, should try to call and see what happens to your new tv.
Ceva is really good about their shipping. Both times they've shipped me something, it took right at 6 days and I'm in NC. But I always called the local warehouse as soon as it came in to schedule delivery. If not, who knows how long it'll take for them to call you?

No worries about buying them all out. I'm just happy that people are buying Samsung's products. And from Amazon at that. I'm a big fan of both.

What coupon do you mean?? Not sure I know about that.
