That makes no sense. Hifi is about the quality of sound reproduction. If the iPod can be made to output the same bits as a $5000 CD transport, then yes it is hifi.

Thanks everyone for your input. I've come to a conculsion that I'm not going to use my IPOD as a source but I am going to use my computer hard drive to store my music library. On Sunday i got a chance to check out slimdesigns transporter and I'm pretty impressed with how it looks in theory (still need to audition it). It has a lot of potential to be a nice audiophile piece of equipment when moded. http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews/m...ansporter.html .
