Samsung Sound Bar HT-X810: Any one?

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a single speaker solution to compliment my new samsung 4669. I've heavily researched the YSP-4000, and it seems to be a viable candidate. However, the new Samsung application is coming out in May and was wondering if any of the audiophiles on the board have an inside scoop or gut feeling regarding how good this thing is going to be? Price projections?

Also, I have a technical question. The new Samsung HT-X810 Home Theater Sound Bar wireless subwoofer communicates on a 5.8GHz carrier frequency, just like the new wireless phone system I just got.

Now, from a theoretical standpoint, I know there will be phasing issues when both devices are operting (ie sound system on, incoming calls / phone conversations) on 5.800GHz, my question is more of a practical one. Do these devices have the capability of band selection (ie when 5.775GHz is being used by the phone, the sound system communicates on 5.8225GHz) as not to interfere with one another?

Does anyone else have different electronics that are advertised to communicate on the same carrier freq? If so, is there any performance degradation?

The CES video shows a Samsung employee saying you can set it up with an included microphone. The online manual makes no mention of this. It seems to be just a 2.1 system with fake surround although it does support DD5.1 input. the online manula alsosays it has built-in FM tuner. Very confusing.

I'd like more info/input as well. It's on AMZ for $609 but no reviews yet.

I figure if Samsung can make a top LCD panel, they'll make a pretty good surround bar too. Upscales to 1080P, plays CD's, has 300 watts and a wireless sub. Works for me. Also looking at the Polk 360 bar but same issue of user reviews, being available.

Looks like it would fit the needs of many just not the multitude of audiofiles/perfectionist here that have a bias against anything simple and not 5.1 or 7.1 that cost over $2000.

Walmart has'em for 549.99
PM Sears/BB for from 699.99 to 549.99 - 10%
549.99 - 15.00 = 535.99 + tax.

If sears try and use you card for 10% off.
If bb try and use a coupon, 10% off (GL on that)

I personally am getting one of these next year or x-mas time to match a 52a650, I played with it at the store and the "wireless" sub seems awesome.

I know this post is old, but here are my experiences after having this for a few months:

- Neat and compact system, although bigger than on the samsung pictures. Good for a small apartment, wouldn't buy it if space was not an issue.
- Sound quality is not too bad, but there is too much bass and not much treble (? voices are a bit difficult to hear). A big caveat is that it is not possible to adjust anything other than bass level (which I keep at -6, minimum, and it's still too loud).
- The usb playing feature didn't work very well with my movie collection, and the interface is horrible.

Wow, that's no much of a glowing review. How are the surround effects? Does it produce surround sound, or only widen the sound field? This unit has a lot of features. But if they don't work well, those features are wasted. From you initial review here, it doesn't sound promising.

I bought this system last night and so far I really like it.. it's got a very consistent sound and very loud for a compact system.. The subwoofer can be very overpowering during loud scenes.. I bought it because I wanted to Anynet it to my Samsung tv/blu ray player..

So far the only strike/bad thing I can give it is that Samsung's Anynet system won't transfer the audio back down to the soundbar via hdmi. I have to run a optical cable between the blu ray player and soundbar. Luckily when I switch sources to my blu ray player, it automatically sets the soundbar to digital input so that I don't have to change sources manually on the soundbar.

So far i'm happy with how everything works together flawlessly. Samsung's Anynet is a good idea - wish it was a little more intelligent.

Walmart's the best place to order it from (much lower price than anywhere else).

I have own a Yamaha Ysp 4000 and the new Mitsubishi 149 series LCD television with that same tech sound bar built in. I recently listened to the Samsung, and while not bad, the only Sound Bar Tech that really gives surround sound is the Yamaha. While the Polk, Samsung,Bose 321, Sony Bar are all
OK, the only one that I have ever found that gives even close to that real surround feel is the Yamaha( and Mitsubishi Lcd). But walls for these are much more preferable for them to work their magic, then all the others.
