What are you guys using for highpass filter?

OK what are you guys using for a highpass crossover for ported/PR subs? 12-14hz John gave me this http://home.comcast.net/~thomasw-2/C...UBproject.html but was hoping to find a better/easier solution. Unless this is it. Heard rumors of a Woofer Widget but looks to not be available. Kevin?

The ED one is the most promising one right now because of its low cost, if I recall correctly, the woofer widget will be kinda expensive, about as much as a DEQ.

Running pro audio amps and balanced lines prob should stick with something like the DEQ?

Talking with John about building AV15 with 2 PR tuned to about 16-17hz think it should have one?

Will the DEQ do a high pass that low, or do you have to "fool" it with a series of different filters at 20Hz?
Yeah, you have to "fool with it"

The Reckhorn looks ok, but it doesn't have nearly the flexibility of the ED unit, the ED has SS filter down to 5Hz, two bands of PEQ, whereas the Reckhorn doesn't have full control over the EQ, you can't select the width and its just one band.

If you look at the Reckhorn manual it says that in the 7 o'clock position the filter is set at 12Hz and then at 8 o'clock its set at 25Hz. I'm looking for something with quite a bit more precision between 10 and 20 Hz.

I'm telling you, the ED unit is the one to watch right now, if it delivers, then we will have an amazing product at our disposal. No more SMS-1's or "fooled with" DEQ's, just a product that gives us what we need. The marchland BASSIS seems to be about the ultimate from what I hear, I haven't used one yet though, they are pricey.

Why not build the H@LF box? Customized performance with very good specifications. The 15 volt DC power is available in most units to tap off of for the voltage and that will cut the cost quite a bit.

I built the Bassis kit not too long ago but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. It only has a 20Hz subsonic filter though.

I do like that, unfortunately its a lot of work to do from scratch, when you will you be selling the complete PCB's and or units?

Yeah, the eD unit, assuming it delivers, seems to be a great little device for $100... Has all the features (and more) of a plate amp except for a lowpass filter, which most already have some form of.

Yeah, actually, thats one feature I would love for them to get rid of on plate amps in exchange for high pass one, I have no use for a low pass, my receiver handles all of that.
