It's pretty certain that whenever they announce the replacement for the AVP, the price will go up to $8500 USD MSRP. Ouch.

I was one of the people telling you to all sell your A1's because the update will never come, and I was wrong.

It will come, 1 1/2 years after their AV receivers had it but it will come. Having to wait another 9 months and pay $1100+ for an upgrade that the AVR-100 and 4311 have right now but, it will come.

Personally, I am 100% happy I sold when I did, like I said I can buy it back now for a fraction of what I sold it for but, I wont because I LOVE the 4311 and how it sounds.

Did any of you ever stop to consider what advances will be made in the next 9-10 months and that by the time they upgrade the A1's that something newer or better may already be in place?

IMO, the flagship product should be at the cutting edge of the technology curve and not at the end of the technology cycle. It seems that even when you finally get the upgrade you will again be behind the latest technology.

Congrats to those of you that waited, you now got what you asked for and its only 9 months away and over a grand to get it.

Seriously, let it go and move on.

I don't think any of us ever expected it would be free and most of us expected any sort of hardware upgrade would be $1k at a minimum.

As far as being behind the technology curve, I quite frankly don't care. After the upgrade, there isn't anything I can think of that I would really care about having added to the AVP anyway.

But it's nice to see you can admit that you were wrong. Oh wait a minute, you're still claiming you were right.

as I see it, everybody wins here: a good thing

I am happy for you guys

the thing to remember is that we havent been put on the bleeding/cutting edge in the mean time. look at the grief the 4311 are going through in the last few months. Its too be expected with new ground breaking stuff. we'll always be shielded with that.

I wouldnt imagine there wouldnt be the odd hickup with even an upgrade as cant think of all eventualities, but given the time line hopefully well thought through, not rushed in and all this stuff well debugged tried on tested on the lower models in the mean time

Absolutely - I'd rather be a bit behind the curve on "features" in return for a more problem free experience.

I moved to the anniversary AVR-A100/ Emotiva XPA5

sold my AVP to a forum member: I miss it but am enjoying the A100: I bought the Audyssey Pro kit and really like the way it sets up my system

regrets? sometimes yes, sometimes no

You hit the nail on the head with that prediction. It sure didn't take him long to sniff out that an upgrade was going to available and return to start preaching the same lame narrative that we've all seen several dozen times in his prior posts. I find it rather pathetic that a non-owner of a piece of equipment returns time and time again to a forum and posts the same thing over and over and over and over again.

I was scouring the australian site and the UK site so I'm crossing my fingers we get it also.

Oh okay, sorry I missed that. I'm glad you're enjoying your new setup, though. Sounds nice.....I've never heard anything but good stuff about those Emotiva amps.

Yes me too. I'm glad the 4311 was a beta unit for Denon to test out the features so when they provide the upgrade it will be problem free.

Nah, we're just a bunch of blathering idiots, we never consider anything but having intimate relations with our AVP's.

He Al I'm wondering if we will get the pro upgrade this time? I remember someone mentioning we will get it.

Awesome news. Wonder how the extra channels will preout for DSX/PLIIZ?

Looks like Chris from Audyssey was pulling out a fakie telling everyone he know of no upgrade for the AVPs Either was under an NDA or the agreements were just completed.

They will have to remap channels somehow...

I'm hoping they get creative and can route DSX height and width different to balanced and unbalanced outputs of, say the rear srrounds, so full 11.2 will be possible (i.e, Surround B's for wides, SBR/Balanced for Rears, SBR/Unbalanced for DSX/PLIIz heights, or whatever other mapping they choose...)

But no Airplay - not at all a deal breaker, but would have been nice...

No he was only made aware of the news when I spoke to him. As he said the upgrade seems for Denon USA only for European/Australian owners we have to speak to our distributors or Denon Europe. Until then we are still waiting. But it great to see something happening.

Congrats to the AVP/5308 owners really glad you guys are getting the attention from Denon that you all deserve . I've been sticking my nose in here, and at the 5308 ever since I heard of the upgrade at the 4311 thread, and it has me fascinate by it all.
Denon stuck to their promises and has work around the what some thought it was impossible. I really hope that other CE company take a cue from these guys, which I really doubt though.

My only lament is I let a use AVP go for under 3500 hundy a few blocks from I work. That would have been a real deal to go with the upgrade.

Good luck guys, Oct will be here before you know it.

Hi djoel, good to see you around. Yeah it is pretty good on denon. Your right the time should just fly, it's not something I need as an update as any rush. But it is good that it's coming and can keep the unit at the forefront.

That deal on an avp would have been awesome too never mind, I too have no luck with that kind of thing. Any time I see a good deal, it's just after I've updated or timing isn't right or something hehe.

Franin, yeah let's keep eyes peeled, hopefully our euro friends notice something as well, hopefully sooner rather than later hehe

Mines in the storage room. For the DSX upgrade does it need to be sent ? They stated some will be firmware and hardware. Which will be firmware and which will be hardware? I'm aware the 3D passthrough will be hardware but what about the firmware?
