I'd guess it's too competitive of a price point for a M/C amp, and I think 5ch is likely not all that popular any more.

I love the B&O ICEpower amps and at $3k I'd seriously look at a multi-mono block Wyred, (or their MC mini for even smaller).
As I've stated before, you can get 5 to 7 Bel Canto Ref 1000's in one box.
Just imagine 7 x 500w/ch or 7 X 1000w into 4 ohms

I run a PS Audio version, with 3 x 500w, 2 x 250w & 2 x 125w modules.

Not sure I'd use it for my front mains but would probably be OK for surrounds and center.

I always forget about that one. Even 12 channels bridged to 6 seems overkill, I truly only need three channels.



I'm looking into those Still, Outlaw 7500 seems to fit the bill for best bang-for-the-buck. Please don't anyone recommend Emotiva

If I go separates, Outlaw, the ATI "equivalent", Parasound & Parasound Halo, and Wyred4Sound Ice amps are all on my list. Emotiva multichannel amps are not

The best three channel solution I know of is the Mark Levinson 433. Out of your range, but a good match for your speakers. I got a used one for just over $4000. Parasound is also a good match with B&W's.

Yeah, the 433 is a beast! Congrats on your new one. I bet they don't come up for sale that often. I looked into the Parasounds, too. But the Outlaw 7500 still would appear to best fit my needs, for the money. I'm not making a decision right away, so I will spend a month or so weighing all options.

I normally don't use headphones that much but i am burning in a set so instead of using the speakers i use them. So when you use the headphones you don't need to have amps running but weirdly enough my avp doesn't seem to think its a good idea to signal the POA to shutdown and i have todo it by hand. Now i am not a greenpeace fan but having POA's running idle like that is silly.

Is there any way for the avp to signal the POA or other amps using triggers to shutdown if you plug in cans ?

I used to have a five channel icepower amp similar to yours and it performed at least as good the previous bryston I had... I'm have been thinking thou, that as long as amps are properly designed they will sound and should sound the same!

Oh, I almost forgot that my active speakers do use icepower to amplify the sound.

The only thing I've heard is the 4520 receiver (which breaks from their model # scheme they've used for a long time now as it ought to be 4512 or 4513) that's supposed to replace the 4810 and 4311 - it's been mentioned in this thread and the 4311 thread a few times. What we've heard so far is that there won't be a new 58xx or AVP any time soon.

previous history given the original denon avp has shown its only every 10 years denon brings out a flagship processor in the A line. that puts the next AVP to be released around 2018 !

and just like the current avp, expect speculation and dummy versions in shows around 2015-6 ! and which also means denon probably has some sketchy concepts lying around on design desks about right now, or about to make a start on that sort of thing

For the most part you're right, if it's designed to output the same signal that's input they should sound the same. Some, like tube amps are designed to impart a sonic character, but that's not my cuppa tea.

You have the Bang & Olufsen's if I recall, they're the company that designed ICE amps specifically for active speakers and originally for large venue systems.

Went ahead and placed my order for the 4311.Got tired of the Onkyo no speaker icon no sound problem for the the third time.
Downloaded the manual and decided that Denon hired Professor Irwin Corey to translate from Japanese to English.I have a headache.I love the way the hand icon points to a certain page number and its the page number your already on.

Diagrams in manual show turning speakers inward and tilting down with some angle parameters.Any real benefits?

Hello guys. It"s a election day today here in greece and since i"m sick of it , i thought i try figure out what amp should i try with my passive subs.15"bottom bass reflex boxes , 155lt internal vol , 3", 4 layers voice coils.
What do you think of qsc rmx 4050 hd?

When i visited the place that did my upgrade they used a 200+ liter tannoy 18" pro sub ($2000 ish) sounded nice and he was a big fan of it he was driving it with the POA. I forgot if it was bridged or not.

My current sub amp is 2x220/8ohms class AB , bryston acoustics , that goes deep into clipping at around -8db of avp"s vol. POA will not give anything more than 1 db of headroom , if i put it to drive the subs. QSC 4050 on the other hand is a 2x800/8 2x1400/4 , 1x4000/4 beast that can drive subs with confidence. We are talking serious power . The 15" subs that i have go down to 15hz -3db. And i think we all know how much power is required , if you want to have serious output in the lowest 2 octaves.
Actually increases logarithmically if i remember correctly.Hence the required power .

I ran my IB sub with 1000ASP ICEpower modules, if you have the coin for one of their amps, (I think Seymour & Wyred are the cheapest ones using them right now). They have a -3db point of 5.3hz, and only 0.2% THD at 10hz.

Agreed i was just impressed with the sub and that the POA was driving it. He did note that it was possible to reach the limit of the amp. Class-D sounds like a good starting point. He as playing at -10dB when i was there.

Probably already talked extensively, but too many pages to look at as you know:

I just picked my avp upgraded. I wasnt able to actually talk to the technician, and I wonder whether there is anything I should know before connecting everything.

They gave me a new mic, but I plan to use the audyssey pro kit I already have. My questions are:
-is the mic for the pro kit the same or do I need to contact audyssey for replacement?
-Do I connect the pro-microphone to the same avp input as before (Front L-RCA input, I think)?
-will the avp make any sound when connected without first running the calibration? I remember having problem getting the sound out when I first installed it years ago...

Pro Kit mic is the same. I believe it's the same input as before. The software will tell you for certain. I actually don't remember.

Yeah, you use the mic that came with the kit.
Definitely same input.
There's no reason not to get sound before calibration unless all the speaker outputs are turned off for some reason.

Looking forward to your thoughts on the upgraded AVP. I'm still waffling back and forth if it's worth it or not.

Considering how small of a % of the original MSRP of the AVP upgrade is, I consider it a decent value.

FWIW, the updated DSP chips/decoders provide an improvement, even on straight/Direct/Pure Direct mode. I would definitely do the upgrade again, in a heartbeat.

I know and I hear ya, Sam. I've been running all the pro's thru my head. It's gonna be a major PITA just getting the AVP out and ready. Then the cost. I dunno... Still waffling.
