please look at the info for it on the internet and please respond back.

Please help, this is driving me crazy.

a. what about HDMI?

b. you can get a 360 VGA cable from Monoprice for less than $10, look into it...

c. you know you could have done much better for $650, if you paid that much for it, right?

Its really a personal preference. Try using the component cables that came with the xbox. If you not satisfied go get the vga cable from monoprice. It really comes down to what it looks like to you. I could have the same tv but to me i might like vga better than component and you vice versa. Personally i like vga on my Sammy DLP but some others don't. I believe there is a huge thread being discussed on here. In the end some people find vga looks the best but there colors get washed out. If your xbox supports hdmi I would say try that over vga.

My 360 is one of the old launch ones, so it dosent have HDMI. But I was considering doing this. i need a 360 with a cooler chip set anyway to help prevent the RROD and I need a HDMI port, so I was thinking of getting a Arcade Sku that has teh new chips and the HDMI port for 279 and just taking my old HDD and plugging it into that and use that.

I think in general, if using a true HDTV and not a computer monitor, one is best served by using either component or HDMI. If using VGA, one brings in a whole basket of additional issues, including non-standard resolutions and "PC vs. HDTV color space" (leading to complaints of washed out blacks, undersaturated colors, or everything being too dark).

I borrowed my Freinds VGA cable from him and I noticed a few things:

1. The dark areas where really dark. (hard to see in the night levels of Gears of war)

2. Colors where more Vibrant.

Less Jaggies.

The amin issue was the Darkness of it.

did you attempt to calibrate the input?
be sure to check your settings. maybe you have Black Enhancement (type feature) set to On, when it should be Off

Pick up a VGA cable. If it isn't a better picture, return.

Okay--have have a Sony 42A10. I used VGA for a long time because it upconverts DVDs to fill the whole screen and some look near-HD quality.

But the other week I put back in the components to play a game and the colors were much, much better and contrasty and more vibrant. This is because I can adjust all the levels on my tv through component, but I can't do much through VGA, so that's the big dif.

I keep the VGA plugged in the back of the TV as well as the component--if I want to play a game, plug the component in the 360--if I want to watch a DVD, plug the VGA in the 360.

I use the 360 for DVDs...yeah...wuteva....

The only thing that on the VGA Screen Settings is the Game Mode Option.

so there's no settings for Brightness, Contrast, Color, etc??

*edit* I just did all the research of your manual there are plenty of settings that should be set to OFF/NO

he's not talking about your HDTV settings, he's talking about your 360 dashboard settings...

in the dashboard, go to system, console settings, display...

that setting only shows up in the dashboard if you're using a VGA cable...

and you will obviously have to make some changes to your other HDTV settings as well, but that's all personal preference...
