Not sure if your post is an announcment or statement? When I tried Nero 8 for streaming it was horrible. I've had better success with Tversity and WMP 11. Also the BD/HDDVD burning was an addon/plugin they wanted to charge for.

The only pieces of Nero8 Ultra that even come colse to working as they advertise are the BurningROM module & the video decoders that come with it.

MediaHome is broken badly.
Recode doesnt create files in sync.
Vision is crash prone.
Home doesnt work with most TV Tuners and its interface is horrid.
Showtime is a resource hog worse than WMP11.

And lets not forget the worst tech support ever. I've tried Nero8 on 5 different machines of different configurations and the same problems are there on all machines. When I've called for support they tell me that there are known bugs that will be fixed in future versions. So if they dont fix it until Version 9 or 10 then I am SOL because those updates sure wont be free.

Blah. Worst $70 I've spent ever...

If I had spent $70 I would be Po'd. Most shareware works better than this POS.

i dont know what this has to do with the ps3 forum, but whatever.

my take on nero is that back in the day (version 5 or so) it was great. then ahead decided they wanted to use the kitchen sink approach and encumber the program with every sort of ridiculous utility and app out there. now it's a freaking joke. when i installed nero 8 there were a good 15 or so apps that i told the installer not to install. some people want just the core nero burning rom app and that's it. i don't need my system bogged down with wav mixers or cd jacket printing apps that i will NEVER use.

Updating now with my fingers crossed!

Generally my experiences with Nero have been a pain. Huge bloated installs and buggy as a Florida summer. The Burning Rom module is good but everything else is of little use that they include.

Yeah. Might I suggest a freeware substitute called CDBunrerXP for the burning software, and then you won't even have to spend money for that.

Remember back in the day when Nero was a great product?

Just a little update:

I went through Nero Smartstart to get to the update application and all seemed good. Like most Nero updates...it's not really patching anything as much as it is just making you download the whole package again. Well after it completely uninstalled the prior installation of Nero8 it popped up a message saying that the Nero packages have been redesignated and that serial numbers have been changed. It then forced me to restart the installation again. This time the install went good and upon completion it had me restart my computer. I restarted the machine with the press of the "Restart Now" button and when it came back up the only Nero application that was installed was the Smartstart. Upon trying to launch any other application (Recode, home, BurningROM, etc) it would give me popup saying I wasnt authorized to use this software. So I uninstalled the new crap, reinstalled the version I JUST HAD ON and used my serial number that was just working 20 minutes prior.....it told me my serial number was incompatible with the latest version of Nero.

So now I'm assuming it's got my registry all jacked up...wonderful. Now I can spend a couple of hours on the phone with the barely-trained customer service monkeys to get this resolved.

I think I'd really just like my $70 back at this point.

My experience essentially mirrored yours.

So now Nero has finally burned me enough for me to wipe it from my system and regclean until there's not a vestige of Nero anything in there. I had switched to Nero after having been burned by Roxio (well, Adaptec actually since they sold out).
