We are truly living in different times...
Of course, the founding fathers were fighting for their very own freedom and building a nation for themselves. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was definitely something that they felt directly. If we had the same struggles today, we probably would have the types of leaders we saw back then.
However, they also had some major failings as well. Remember, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness was not for everyone. It took many, many years for this nation to purge the sin of slavery.
Although our struggles are MUCH less overt than what they dealt with back then, we are now living in an era where we have two minority citizens running for the highest office in the land, and one of them may very well win! (Whether you agree or disagree with their politics, the fact that this could even be a possibility is something to celebrate).
If what we deal with on a daily basis seems mundane, I would hope they would sit back and say, "good"! The fact is, the hard part was done by them, so that we could enjoy unprecedented growth and wealth that is open to ALL people today.
