I'm going through a lot of trouble hunting down a analog cable box to run my cable line through so my 3808ci receiver can up convert my standard 480i analog cable signal to 1080p. (Right now cable line is connected directly to my 58pz700u).
My question is how much of a difference can I expect converting an analog signal from 480i to 1080p will the difference be that noticeable?

. But are you sure it can upconvert 480i? I only saw 480p and above listed in the specs for upconverting/scaling. (Will an analog box be able to first convert 480i to 480p then send it along?) Also, won't any box you obtain have to be able to communicate with your cable provider's 'head end'(?) Have you asked your cable provider about alternates box yet? At least in some parts of Chicago where I live, they have started to convert systems to digital only. My friend did not have luck getting the same Motorola box I have since she's limited to digital only models AFAIK. Also, how does the PQ looks on SD cable sources when you are directly connected to your Panny?
