How do you get to it?
I got a call from my tech last night asking how my set was doing, i told him i exhanged it. And to my surprise, he just called me up about 20mins ago and asked if he could stop by and upgrade the FW on my new tv. I didnt even have to call samsung or the techs office or anything.
He just left. This guys good.

Plus i have samsung sending me the FW, so i guess i'll just have a free flash drive.

I was just razzing you a bit. You'd mentioned the xbr4 several times in your first 10 or so posts in this thread.

I just called the place that was supposed to be coming out to look at my TV, and they said they have to many people to take care of and cannot come out and look at my TV. So they told me to call Samsung back and find another service center. I called them and the guy transfered me to executive customer relations i think he said. The lady seemed like a bitch and told me they will call me back in 3-4 days or a service center will call me. If I dont hear from them by Friday I will call Samsung and see how far up the chain I can go.

I feel like I'm getting the run around. Now I wont be happy until they refund or exchange!

Stuck pixel reports have been very rare. XBR's have many reports on flashlighting as well as do most LCD's. I agree, rushing can = bad choices. But not choosing means no TV and that's just not fun

So now I have another technician coming out for another visit for a 2nd opinion.

Are these technicians Samsung employees, or are they locals doing contract work for Samsung?

Edit: And what about your techs, metal?

ps: I really hope you get a decent set on your next shot. Good luck.

So far it looks insane but i have this flashlight in the top right corner that really bother me. The right side is also a little lighter.

With the backlight at 3, i still see the flashlight when the screen goes black while watching a blu ray... at 5 it's really visible in a bad way

See pic below

By the way...how did you put your screen to all black?

Thanks

They are contracted by samsung, and deal specifically with Samsung tv's. My tech even pulls up in a samsung labeled van. But they are not samsung employees.

Thanks for all your reponses.

The store where i bought it from is going to pick it up and deliver a new one tomorrow.

I have a 4061f and i never seen any flashlighting on it. I hope the new one is nice and uniform and that it's not a problem with the 650 series...

Does any one of you have no flashlights or clouding whatsoever?

Thats good (that they are Samsung focused). Not that there is anything wrong with a local "generalist," but these early problems deserve Samsung's focus. And it looks like they got it.

yea im still debating between teh 40650 or teh 40xbr4 i dunno yet i want the 40650 but i have terrible luck with electronics(bad luck with 3 71's finally returned for my money back) so my luck ill getthe 650 and be plagueg wit issues..i just need a nice set for when GTAIV comes out as well as a good gaming set, and blu ray set

or you can hook up a pc and make the background solid black or get one of those calibration discs and put on solid black.

My friend, please search the thread for "Audio Bug".

Here is a very recent post on the topic:

STILESP113, check out sears.com to see some more of the new TVs from that 'other' brand you are considering. I think they were just listed today. This will confuse you even more.

So my 52" shipped yesterday morning thru CEVA out of Reno. Seeing as how i'm in Las Vegas I was optimistically thinking I just might get a call today about scheduling delivery. I looked at my tracking on Amazon only to find that it was scanned in today at a shipment facility in L.A.!!!!

I found that CEVA and Big River weren't too in-synch on scans, delivery times, etc, so you might want to track it directly at CevaLogistics.com.

Congratulations, btw!

Sorry for the semi-late reply, here is the setup for how I reproduce "the audio bug" as I like to call it:

First of all, some background info:
I have my Samsung 650 set to Internal Mute which means NO audio should play through the TV speakers at all. I also lower the volume on the 650 all the way down to zero just in case (kind of like a safety net). I never want to hear the TV speakers at all (I don't want to get any sound complaints especially since downstairs has young kids which sleep earlier I'd assume). All of my audio goes straight from the devices to my 5.1 receiver.

So on to the problem:
I am using an Xbox 360 Elite over HDMI connection and using Digital Optical/Toslink for audio which is plugged into a Logitech Z-5500 receiver. I start an episode of TV series "Jericho" (which I downloaded for free from Xbox Live Video Marketplace during some promotion - I'm not near my Xbox360 at the moment so I can't say the exact episode name or if it's still free or anything. But I would assume that all files on Video Marketplace are encoded in the same way so probably everything is affected).

As soon as I start this specific video, the TV will for some reason automatically UNMUTE itself, and play sound through the TV speakers (in addition to my receiver). Very loudly too - which is no good since I live in an apartment and watch TV late at night. So the TV is ignoring TWO user preferences I've set - the internal mute and the volume setting.

The way to [temporarily] "fix" it is by turning the TV off and then back on again. After you restart the set it actually uses the correct audio settings...weird.

Now this has only happened once or maybe twice to me (with DVD's) outside of this specific test. More of a minor thing compared to the resets or stuck AMP. But I just don't want to be constantly worrying about a random burst of extremely loud audio coming through my set.

I'm getting caught up on this thread so if it was answered already or already suggested I apoligize. Is the HDMI going from xbox to receiver the to tv? If so is the receiver passing audio through HDMI? You can (or should) shut that off. If this is not the case then just ignore my ignorant ramblings.
