I've heard MCE allows to add S-Video input after I set up TV channels with TV tuner. I don't have TV tuner but I have video capture card with S-Video input.
MCE doesn't let me go to TV page sayiing I don't have TV tuner. Can I still set up video capture for Vista MCE?
If, let's say, I temporarily put some TV tuner, set up s-video input and then replace tuner with capture card, would it work?
I don't have good OTA reception and only have U-Verse STB so I have no use for TV tuner.
I currently have cheap K-World DVD maker PCI card but if it doesn't work I probably could get Hauppauge ImpactVCB if it works.
Another question
Is vista media center not going to work with capture card that only has software encoding?
And if I go with hardware MPEG encodig card can I record sound from digital S/PDIF input on my motherboard? All cards/tuners with video input only seem to have analog sound connectors and I need digital. Will there be sound offset relative to video in this case?
Thank you.
