If the price is the same for these two TV's is it clear that you would choose the Z700u (1080P Model)? Is there any advantage to choosing the X80U model ?

It depends on who you ask, and what your particular situation is.

There's already an existing thread discussing your exact question. Please search at least the first few pages before starting a new thread because usually someone has already asked the same question and we're already discussing it. No need to start more threads when the topic already exists

Here's the thread you want:

Yes, Brighter Whites, slightly better Blacks & Color, A new Game Mode & 1 more HDMI Input (Front) & it probably handles 24p motion picture frames slightly better than the PZ700.

For around the same price though I'm going with the PZ700 with 1080p, a better Sound System & most of all because the PZ700 really has had no major problems with it & that this point in time the PX80 is an untested unproven model.

Randy-

Sorry - should have checked the threads and not started a new thread. Thanks for providing the existing thread.

The 700u is one of the highest rated plasmas available, so you really can't go wrong with that model. It has also been through its stress test among community members and various hardware sites. The 80U is still unproven, so you'll be entering uncharted territory with that television. Either way Panasonic is a Tier 1 company, so you really cannot go wrong.

I would go with the 700U simply because it is 1080P, has a better sound system, and is a veteran that has earned the respect it is given. Panasonic's website allows you to easily compare the specs of both TVs.

Good Luck!
