Need help with speaker choices, please.

Hey guys, I'd love some input on my narrowed field of
speaker choices. They will be used 60/40 for movies/music.
Room is 22X25 dedicated home theatre/music room. Budget is
not really an issue as long as I feel good about what I
get for the buck. I had initially decide to go with aerial
acoustics 7b with matching surrounds, but I am having
second thoughts about the price. I also like the monitor
silver series 9i's, and the paradigm reference studio/100's.
I listened to B&W,Tannoy,jmLabs,linn,Martin logans,Infinity,
Energy,Klipsch,Atlantic technology, and a few others.

The B&W CDM NT's had good sound
but the bass seemed to overpower the sound. It may have
been the set-up. Martin logans are cool but I've heard
some negatives about electrostatics.
Anyway, what do you think?

Aerial 7b's
Paradigm reference studio/100's
Monitor silver 9i's.

I will also purchase a matching center channel and surrounds
from the same maker. Any others I should consider?? I would
like to stay as far under $10K as possible and still have
a great set up that I feel like I got my moneys worth. I
Also am not sure what it will take to drive all these, It
seems some are very power hungry.

Jon.

Jon,

I have the Aerial system that you are considering. I think it is wonderful and for the price I couldn't find anything that sounded better. I don't think they are the end all be all, my first choice was B&W802s (didn't want to spend that much) second was the Aerial 10ts but I couldn't get them past my wife.

It's a very good speaker that requires quite a bit of power and a great deal of break in.

Good Luck

If you are anywhere near Houston, or,, just need good reason to visit, you are very welcome to audition the Von Schweikert line-up at my home. I'm using the VR3.5's, LCR 35, S/3, and TS210's in my HT room. My 2-channel audio set-up features the VR5 Reference speakers. In my opinion the Von Schweikert's offer exceptional value, offering sonic nirvana to audiophiles at reasonable prices. They are a MUST HEAR! See at www.vonschweikert.com Drop me an email, if interested,, will be glad to provide you the nickel tour.
Regards,

Jack

While you are auditioning the Paradigm 100s, I'd strongly suggest listening to a set of the Active 40s with the Servo-15. Paradigm's "Active Reference" line is actively bi-amped with custom amplifiers specifically designed for their drivers. IMO, this combo (Active 40s, Active CC, Servo-15s) is far and away Paradigm's best speaker combo. Keep in mind that you won't need any amps for these speakers (but you will need to run a power cord to them). I listened to them with a Theta pre/pro, but I'm sure they would sound great with other pre/pro options.
Be sure to get a quality subwoofer (or two) as well. There are plenty of suggestions in the back posts if you need some suggestions.
