We might as well do it for this game too.

To start off the code for the free map is, COMCAST FASTER. It is case sensitive as far as I know.

I only have an hour or so in it but it seems to be pretty good. I did have trouble (like most games the first week) with a "host quit" problem in the only MP match I tried.

I'm liking the campaign so far.
Tried MP. 85% of games were full or unable to connect to host. Got into a couple games, half of those had bad lag. Got frustrated and switched to Condemned 2. Be back tomorrow.

good so far playing story on realistic, just wish AI was a little better.

On side note nebody looking to start a clan.

I absolutely love this game. I was a huge fan of the first Vegas game and this one just kicks it up about, oh, 100789758 levels.

It's fantastic. I played Terrorist Hunt for like 3 hours straight earlier (6-9pm) with some buddies and didn't even realize it had been that long. It's so much fun it's ridiculous. I LOVE the sprint button. It makes a HUGE difference and is very much appreciated. I still say this game has the best cover system ever devised.

My only complaints are:

No jump.
No melee.
No party system (which makes joining up with friends a real pain in the ass) like CoD4 or Halo 3.
Only 2-player coop for single player. I swear I read/heard somewhere you could play with 4 people. If that was the case (like Halo 3), this game would be even more incredible.

But seriously...apart from those things, I think this is the best game available right now. CoD4 is still great, but the lack of cover really breaks my balls. I think if R6 had the above issues fixed, it would easily be the greatest game ever made.

I pretty much played MP all evening...

I'll be honest - the first hour or so I was a little worried. I was playing completely foreign maps with total strangers often against teams comprised of clan members. However once I started getting used to the maps, control, pace, etc it got REALLY fun... Especially when the team skill level balanced out.

One thing I found "surprising" was that I actually prefer objective-based games. Traditionally I play simple team deathmatch exclusively... however I found myself searching rooms for the other types. I think I prefer it b/c it keeps the action flowing - and doesn't really encourage camping.

Regardless - lots of fun. Great game - although hardly perfect. Maybe tomorrow I can take a stab at SP... but somehow I doubt it

If you're interested check out our clan site listed in my sig. We started here at AVS on the PS3 side and expanded to include the 360.

As for the game, very good so far. Its been said before, Ubi fixed what needed to be fixed to take this game to the next level.

The comcast code is not case sensative.

I played a lot last night and I came away satisfied but I think there is certainly room for criticism. It's really RB6V:1.25

The very restricted sprint is fantastic, just right for trying to make it from cover to cover or pass a doorway (Unless you are play realistic, then no amount of sprint will help you get accross an opening before the A.I fills you with lead!)

But really other than that what we have is gimped co-op and more of what we already paid for.

I really missed the 4 player co-op, I wish they had waited to get that up and running. Having the A.I. just sucked. I enjoyed playing with three real people not just one and having to use the A.I non stop.

Same here, it grew on me, but overall the online experience was very disappointing. Graphics took a step down from R6V1 except for the existing maps. Gun Detail sucks imo compared to COD.

It's slow, spawn camping is back, and its going to be a while i think until they get an update out for it. Personally i left very unimpressed. Sure i loved the old one, but COD raised the bar and R6V2 missed i think. Again, its very early, and there a ton of bugs and updates that need to be done. I just think they rushed this out before it was ready

How is the Single Player campaign? Is it as good as first and is it as long as the first one?

I have hard decision picking up RSV2 or Condemned2.
Maybe I am spoiled from CoD4, but I don't know guys, I am not too impressed with R6V2 at the moment. The XBOX Live multiplayer is still ridiculously clunky (do they really need to bounce me back to the main screen after EVERY ranked game? Can we not just continue playing with the same guys like almost every other FPS lets you? Can we get some sort of basic "kill cam" that shows how in the world I died? Your character also feels like he is moving through molasses and isn't always as responsive as he should be.

I played the hell out of the first R6V, but after a few hours of gameplay online, so far, this one can't hold CoD4's jock.
fantastic game. they tweaked it and made what was my favorite game even better.
i for one love the lobby system better than cod4. and fyi, you dont have to play in ranked matches with the new leveling syatem.

terro hunt on villa in realistic mode is awesome.

Is it just me or does the normal difficulty on SP seem harder than it did?

Love having friendly AI on TH. I could play that for hours.

Graphics are meh. Gameplay rocks. I love this series.

Numerous gameplay tweaks: the sprint, the ability to direct friendly ai to frag or flash a specific location in the run of play, the ability to shoot through cover...all good.

Seems like there's a little more long-range combat in the campaign so far. The differences between this and GRAW continue to shrink.

Is anybody else's Marksman pts grossly exceeding the other two categories?

I picked up both yesterday, just in case.

Also agree with posts that say compared to COD4 this game doesn't hold a candle. I played the first Vegas for about 10 months straight but this one just isn't doing it for me.

And is it me or do most of the graphics look like boxes and squares, not at all smooth and realistic like COD4.

Funny to read the COD4 comparisons. For SP, I love them both. For MP/Co-op, no contest.

COD4 has no co-op of any kind. Vegas2 has two flavors (campaign and TH).

As for MP, COD4 is more polished, but it's basically Halo w/o shields.

Yeah, I said it.

Yes. I'm getting a bunch of head shots and long range. Playing on Realistic I never want to get anywhere near CQB as it equals instant death.

Yeah, I said it.

Maybe Halo Mode is (err Old School mode), but other than that COD4 is nothing like halo except that they are FPS games.

Precisely.

I think R6V2 is excellent. I played a few chapters of the campaign via coop with a friend. We were playing on casual which is way too easy. So we switched to normal which offered a good challenge for us.

I've always liked the objective matches in the R6 series. For the most part, teams must communicate and work with each other. I liked Team Leader and I am a huge fan of A&D.

My only gripe playing MP last night: all team deathmatches were only 1 respawn. Does anyone know if that is the only TD gametype avialable at the moment or is the problem with the hosts not knowing how to create an unlimited respawn TD match?

Everything is customizable. I played with "infinite" respawns, no respawns, and every flavor in between. You must have got stuck with a clueless host.

I liked the first Rainbow 6 Vegas, and have a few questions/ anecdotes:

-although I like COD4, I find it a bit too hectic and the maps a bit too "cramped". I always feel ambushed and like I can't get into a groove. I don't like the small size and quirky nature of the maps either.... they feel hard to "read".
-I'm also a fan of Frontlines, but don't see R6V2 competing with it, as at heart they're both different types of games.

So will R6V2 suit me better than COD4? I like the "leveling up/ character customization" aspects that I've heard of R6V2. Is there extensive stat tracking and medal awards like in Halo 3 and COD4? Is there any website integration for tracking stats, etc?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Stat tracking appears to be built in, much more than in the first game, but I havn't played around with it much. I'd say it's comparable to the COD4 stat tracking.

the maps are smaller, but you have a cover system so you won't feel as cramped and exposed as you do in COD4.

There is no website that I know of for stat tracking. There are a ton of different "challenges" and goals. They call them A.C.E.s I believe. They have set goals for each weapon class and for headshots, etc. The game is way more entertaining than Frontlines for me.

Thanks. That's what I thought.

BTW, I was one of those clueless hosts.

I was so frustrated not being able to find a TD with unlimited respawns, I created my own game but I couldn't find the setting for respawns. I'll try again tonight.

Shooters are going to be forever compared to the likes of Halo 3 and COD4 because they do so much right. Ive been reading through this thread and havent been convinced yet to buy it :/ I love shooters but after all this time am still addicted to COD4 (and even Halo 3 still). Im thinking about renting for the single player instead.......
Surprisingly know one has mentioned the grenade tossing animations. This by far is the worst animations I have seen in a game for awhile! The grenades look as if they float through the air and just stick to their locations.

Does it track anything besides A.C.E.S. and EXP? I feel totally spoiled by Bnet. One guy was saying he thought the game tracked ranked MP stats... but I certainly have not found any "social" stat tracking.

For extra content if you go to the Ubi website and create a profile. Then in the Vegas 2 game go to exclusive content and here you will be prompted to enter your Ubi website profile. This will link the Ubi profile to your Gamer tag. At this point you will have access to download the "Streets" map.

bungie.net>than all the rest. This is not an arguable point.

I love CoD4 and, until R6:V2 came out, was severely addicted to it.

And if CoD4 had a cover system, it'd be a very, VERY tough call to decide which game was better. I just cannot believe that it lacks any cover whatsoever, and, what is even more infuriating is that the enemy AI can use cover! WTF?!

Anyway...R6:V2 is going to my game of choice (in between Oblivion sessions) for a while to come, methinks. The cover alone makes playing worth it. God, I love it so much.

For me, almost any Rainbow game (except lockdown) is a keeper. I picked up Vegas 2 last night and so far have only played Versus MP and Terrorist Hunt MP. That said, here's my high and low points:

I Like:

-Sprint (which is huge for me to say b/c I'm a Rainbow purist. I was VERY skeptical about sprint but I think it actually improves gameplay the way they implemented it)

-PEC improvments: I really like the way they've done PEC this time around. No more rubber band cheaters. I like that it will take some time to progress through the ranks and unlock everything.

-Graphics: not a lot of people are agreeing with me but to my eyes I can see they've upped the MP graphics slighly over Vegas 1. It's still no COD4 graphics-wise and about a mile behind something like GoW, but it does look better.

-Gun options: did you guys notice that if you add a silencer, and change from say full auto to single shot, then it keeps those settings for your entire match even if you respawn? I don't remember it doing that in Vegas 1.

-CADPAT!!! I'm so happy they put Cadpat camo in this game : )

I Dislike:

- 2 player co-op: WTF? Vegas 1 had 4 player. Still no good answer from Ubi as far as I know why they had to -downgrade- the co-op from 4 to 2 players only. I never feel as comfortable joining a co-op game with only 1 other person if I dont' know them. However, I don't mind at all randomly joining 3 other people I don't know. It's easier to meet new people in a group than one-on-one, know what I mean? That's why I'm not into Army of Two.

- Grenade: tossing (apparently my bad ass special forces guy can only throw it about 10 feet, and he can only do it looking like a complete girl)

- Life: I guess it's the armour or whatever but I still miss R63 'one shot one kill' style gaming. Oh well, at least headshots still are that way.
