Back in Sept. of 2007 I purchased a complete set of AV123 spekers. Monitor 1's for front and center, Rocket dipolds for the rear, and ordered their NEW and "soon to be released' X-plosiv Subwoofer. Well fter a couple of months I received my monitor 1's followed by the Rocket dipolds. (November 11, 2007) At that time I asked when the subwoofer would be shipped. I was told later in November. The that date pssed and I asked again and I was told December. Then I never heard again from AV123.
So fast forward to early February and I again contact AV123 only to find out now that the X-plosiv subwoofer is still in development and there is no expected completion date for my order! It has now been 7 months since I bought and paid for everything. AV123 never updated me on the status, they have just left me hanging and have made it my responsibility to check on their progress.
Is waiting 7 months normal for small speaker shops like this? The communication is sub par at best. I would just get my money back but I want all the speakers to match.
They should have never taken orders for a product they didn't plan on developing. AS far as I know it's still just a sketch on a napkin.
Live and learn I guess. But AV123 certainly lost me as a good reference for their customer service.
What would you guys do at this point?
Thanks for letting me vent...
I can understand your frustration, that is why I didn't buy a Rocket HT set back in Nov, when they were on sale. I got something else (PSB), and am very happy. But, you have a choice of buying or not, in their site it was clear that it was a pre-sale and they would start delivering sometime in Jan-Feb.
I'm sure if you ask for a refund they will credit your CC, Mark is well known in the industry and from what I have seen an honest person. Wouldn't expect less from his company.
I had the same problem with eD, I purchased an A3-300 from them, and after 6 weeks, they couldn't even tell me when it was going into fab. And, this was not a new product. I ended up cancelling and purchasing an HSU VTF2-MKIII from stock. Same thing happened with eD's newer speakers, but they solved that now, even though their sub demand is still large and deliveries for their subs are very bad.
Parts Express has the same issue with their Dayton HSU8 thru HSU12 new subs. Excellent price, but delivery right now is slated for June, a month ago was for April.
Aparently these ID companies have become very popular, putting out good products at reasonable pricing. Demand fars outweight production, therefore the growing pains of being able to balance revenue, production, and customer service. I expect this to happen with every new product the more popular ID's put out into the market. Remeber you paid a pre-sale price, so in order to get that excellent deal you are paying extra for patience.
Back in Nov. I was going to buy a nice 5 speaker Rocket set for about $1400.00, now the same system goes for $2,400.00+. Back then it was a pre-sale, now it is in stock.
