Hey guys, i need help picking out a receiver (not a HT receiver) for my rti10 speakers. Is there any good one under 400? I plan to buy the hk3485 but just wondering if there is something better out there in the same price range.

Frankly, the most important differences, such as they are, will be in features. If you like the HK, buy the HK.

Improvement? None to little.

Best brand for stereo music? Any major brand.

If you want better sound, buy better speakers or improve your room's acoustics.

Under $400, you have several great choices, including stereo receivers from H/K, Onkyo, Marantz, Denon and Yamaha, and a few integrated amplifiers, including one from NAD. Any of these will be just fine. Your speakers and their placement, room acoustics, source, etc all have a much larger effect on the sound of your system.
