Need advice on buying a new receiver with TrueHD....

Hi Guys -
Maybe one of you experts can answer my questions quickly and save me some time reading (not sure what section is the best to search thru for my question, I tried in the blu-ray section and a person suggested I post here).
I currently have a Panny 50" TH-50PX60U plasma 720p (which I love) which oddly enough accepts and shows 1080p when being fed a 1080p signal even though its only a 720p / 1080i tv.
I have an XA1 and just bought the Samsung BD-P1400 to watch blu-rays. I have been using my HK AVR 235 receiver but it doesn't accept HDMI. I have the XA1 outputting audio thru digital coax and 5.1 analog out into the HK inputs. For the blu-ray, I have it outputting optical going into the HK. My question is this. I've been doing some reading on the newer TrueHD and DTS-HD formats which I think (maybe not) that the Samsung BD-P1400 can output. I'm thinking of either buying the Onkyo 605 or the new Yamaha RX-V663 / HTR-6160 (I think they're the same model basically but not sure if either is on the market yet). I realize I would have to get new 1.3 HDMI cables (I'm only running 1.1 now) but if I would buy a newer receiver and using the 1.3 cables, can I get the TrueHD to be output from possibly the XA1 and BD-P1400 to be decoded by my receiver and outputted to the speakers? I thought I read some posts from last Sept. that said I couldn't but I've updated to the latest firmware yesterday for the Samsung. Any opinions? Thanx in advance for any help!

Yes, you can send it as PCM or bitstream over your HDMI connection but if you are using bitstream you have to make sure that your new receiver can decode it.

Schnecksville, small world.
HDMI cables are HDMI cabless for the most part. Which ones are you using now?
Those are both good AVR's. I would choose the 663 over the 605, but possibly the 705 over both.
I'm in the west end of Allentown now, but lived in Neffs for most of my life.

Thanx guys for your info. Not sure which one I'm gonna buy, but will definitely buy one of those two unless you have another one in the $400 range in mind. I know the Onkyo has been out for over 6 months and the Yamaha is fairly new? I'm running Monoprice 1.1 HDMI cables but I guess the 1.3's are better and since Monoprice is so cheap, I may as well get them, even though I probably don't need them since I don't have a 1080p set for deep color, etc. The doubling of bandwidth of 1.3 and other advantages of 1.3 probably aren't a big deal for me to just get TrueHD.

1.3 cables are certified for a higher bandwidth. However, a higher bandwidth is only needed for DeepColor and xvYCC. xvYCC could some into play if you are planning on buying an xvYCC camcorder and a xvYCC TV. DeepColor, who knows when that will become important (not today, though.)

Thanx for the input. Doesn't sound like DeepColor is a big deal to me. Is that something that is only available on 1080p sets, or also 720p sets? Also, I'm not planning on buying a xvycc camcorder.
